Eight years ago, two years before FOBCY was founded members of St Mary’s choir re-designed the area by the North door removing a huge, hideous overgrown flower bed thus creating the useful area we now have. It’s had some tough times, the recent building work being the worst but it’s coming back to life again!! Watch this space….

A big thank you to Sue Carroll, who has been caring for the Cricketer's bed for over 40 years!

She started caring for this bed with her daughter when her daughter was only 2 years old! πŸ’•πŸŒΈ

Burial Ground Week with Churches Count on Nature is here, and we are joining in from 6-14 June!

Our churchyard is full of life as we start our Nature Count this week.

Check out some of the interesting bugs, birds and butterflies you can find there!

Not many pictures of the birds, as they hide in the trees, but you can definitely hear them!

What wildlife have you spotted? 🐝

Burial Ground Week with Churches Count on Nature is here, and we are joining in from 6-14 June!

So this week, you might see some of us walking around the churchyard looking out for birds, bugs and plants, helping to record the wildlife that makes this special place its home.

If you see us wandering around with notebooks or cameras, that's what we're up to!

You are welcome to join in, or just come and have a chat with us.

As we get ready for Love your Yew Week on 9th – 14th February we came across this wonderful photograph by Andrew Fusek Peters Photography of a thrush singing in a yew tree.
A reminder that although every part of the yew tree is poisonous, including the seed, the pink-red fleshy berry, known as an aril, is non-toxic and mildly sweet.
This contrast between toxic seed and edible aril plays a key role in seed dispersal by birds.
