Are the blades on your Mower as blunt as a brick, but it doesn’t matter because you can’t get it to start anyway?

Isn’t it time to get Grandma’s old Standard Lamp rewired now that the cable glows brighter than the bulb?

Has your Garden Furniture got the wobbles or has your Deck Chair let you down again?

Is that Bicycle Tyre now as flat as your plans? But you were so looking forward to getting fit next week . . .

Has the wind torn your Tent and broken your Brolly, and now the Moths have had a party in your Sunshade too?

Is your Pressure Washer pooped or has your Pond Pump died and left you in a pickle?

Were your London Marathon dreams cut short because your Top is in tatters and your Shorts are split?

The solution to all of these and more could well be found at the Repair Mill at our home in the Community Workshop, at the High Mill (the metal door by the foot of the Hill House Bank steps to Jollybeard) on Saturday 2nd May from 10 am to 3pm – you’ll find us signposted from the back of the Co-op Car Park or go past (the Award Winning!) Cobbles Café in Market Square and turn right. Learn how to save money by mending stuff and help to reduce waste in the process, all for a voluntary donation. We’ll look at electrical goods, bicycles, furniture, clothing, zips and textile repairs and even some shoe repairs, in fact just about anything that you can bring along - we can also have a go at garden and DIY tool, knife & scissor sharpening. While you're here, why not ask about joining the Alston Men's Shed, Busy Buddies or the Crochet group where we can just chat and maybe learn new skills, as well as enjoy making and mending stuff together.
Also, we now have an Industrial heavy duty Sewing machine and can repair most tears in Gazebos, Tents, and other heavy materials, however as these repairs take up time and space, probably not today. Please come and have a chat with us first.

Does your Vacuum Cleaner pick up less than your friends 2 year old?

Has your Log Splitter spluttered its last and your Axe needs a sharpen?

Is your Standard Lamp due an upgrade or does your Reading Lamp need a rewire?

Has your Food Mixer gone Pop or is your Liquidiser now giving you the silent treatment?

Is your Broom handle now short enough for your 3 year old to use, if you can trust them with it of course . . .

Maybe you want to use your Grandad’s Camera this year, but you don’t know how?

Is it about the Bunny?

The solution to all of these and more could well be found at the Repair Mill at our home in the Community Workshop, at the High Mill (the metal door by the foot of the Hill House Bank steps to Jollybeard) on Saturday 4th April from 10 am to 3pm – you’ll find us signposted from the back of the Co-op Car Park or go past Cobbles Café in Market Square and turn right. Has your old Hand Drill had it or is your Bucket worn out? Have you been on your break yet?

Does that old wind-up Gramophone sound as if its either full of custard or has taken up yodelling?

Unlike next door’s dog, has that old Radio suddenly gone quiet?

Has your favourite Kitchen Mixer gone up in smoke now that your Liquidiser just doesn’t talk to you anymore?

Did your Trousers get torn or has the Zip on your Jacket jammed?

Has the battery in your watch decided that its time is up?

Maybe your Brolly sprung a leak or your Coat has lost a button?

The solution to all of these and more could well be found at the Repair Mill at our home in the Community Workshop, at the High Mill (the metal door by the foot of the Hill House Bank steps to Jollybeard) on Saturday 7th March from 10 am to 3pm – you’ll find us signposted from the back of the Co-op Car Park or go past Cobbles Café in Market Square and turn right. We want to get people thinking more consciously about the clothes they wear, the environmental cost of fast fashion, and the opportunities to re-use, re-wear, restore, and re-sell garments. Through films, panel discussions and hands-on activities, we aim to inspire more sustainable choices and reduce clothing waste in Cumbria.

Expect a day packed with:

Inspiring films and engaging discussion panels
Hands-on repair workshops
Sustainable Fashion Shows
A clothes swap with expert colour and styling guidance, organized by Cumbria Clothing Collective, bring 4 items and swap for 4 new items at no charge.
Mending and repair demonstrations from leading companies and experts from across the UK, we’ll look at how to mend, reuse and recycle everyday clothes, sportswear and outdoor kit.

Is your Hoover haunted or has your Dyson died? Or maybe your Shark sounds like it’s just been caught by Roy Scheider?

Has the pocket in your Jacket suddenly got a new opening, or maybe the Zip just won’t shut up?

Does your Piano Keyboard now sound more like next door’s cat?

Maybe your Fan Heater has left you cold and your Ice Maker is the only warm thing in the house now?

Is your clock is now only correct twice a day, but never when it’s tea time?

Has the Light of your life just blown a fuse?

The solution to all of these and more could well be found at the Repair Mill at our home in the Community Workshop, at the High Mill (the metal door by the foot of the Hill House Bank steps to Jollybeard) on Saturday 7th February from 10 am to 3pm – you’ll find us signposted from the back of the Co-op Car Park or go past Cobbles Café in Market Square and turn right. Did something get broken in your New Year celebrations?

Do you really want to get that Christmas decoration fixed before it goes back in the box? Really?

Has your Fan Heater left you cold, and now the Toaster has come out in sympathy?

Did you revive your old Cassette player only to find that it sounds like it’s full of custard? So how are you going to tape the charts now?

Now it seems that you’re back to work, but did your Alarm Clock have a lie-in when you needed it most?

Maybe the Coffee Machine let you down now that you really need it?

Do you almost wish that Noddy Holder could tell you what time of year it is on that now silent Radio?

Have the moths spent more time in your Christmas jumpers than you have?

Is your special Christmas Decoration in bits or do your fancy Lights now leave you in the dark?

Are your best scissors now as blunt as the Carving Knife that you’re planning to use on The Day?

Is Santa’s ‘Ho Ho Ho’ wearing a little thin or somehow that jaunty Christmas song just doesn’t sound like it used to?

Does that Electric Heater now leave you cold, or maybe your Hoover just looks at you apologetically these days?
