Happy Friday, folks! 🌈
We are delighted to welcome some new staff to the team this week. This will help us roll out even more of the fun stuff! Fox's little team is truly amazing, and we are very lucky to have such a kind, flexible bunch who always roll with the madness. 🦊
📚 Our staff attended some self-harm awareness training this week, which was incredibly informative and great to have under our belt.
A huge well done to all the Alness Academy kiddos for walking up Fyrish in the heat yesterday — massive high fives to everybody involved! 👏
Of course, that meant our academy kiddos weren’t around at the hub, but the timing actually worked out quite well. It gave Lennon and Gord the perfect opportunity to plant some grass seeds in what will become our new kiddies’ corner. 🌱 We’ve also had our first fruit ready to harvest too! 🍓
Our new benches outside in the car park are already getting plenty of use, with lots of people enjoying sitting in the sunshine during our community drop-in. Sadly we can't add any picnic benches to the area as the carpark is heavily used each day, but we can’t wait to get the garden open! 🌻
🍳 You asked, and we will deliver!
We are delighted to soon be bringing cookery lessons to the hub. We are currently exploring the launch of an ASN cookery group, a family cookery group, and an adult-only cookery group.
These classes will be delivered by our friends at Tain For You Training who have just built an amazing new campus.More details and dates will follow after we visit them next week! 🍝 ForYou Training
The hub has also welcomed some new regular groups to the mix. A separate post will follow with details of all the amazing projects running under this roof.
🐞🌿 Fox Tots toddler group will be on again today at 10.30am, with lots of mini-beast fun to be had! (Also running over the summer holidays).
We’ve just received an upgraded emergency food box for the hub. A huge thank you to the men’s group for building it for us this week. This box can be accessed when the Food Share is closed, so please help spread the word to ensure no family goes without.
We’d also like to thank the men’s group for all their hard work in the garden this week, especially the lovely gentleman who is putting his old trade skills back to use and helping rebuild the wall. 🧱
☕️We’ve had a fantastic response to our Afternoon Tea invitation for care homes in and around Easter Ross. We look forward to welcoming everyone before the end of term and hope to make this a regular event.
🎉 We had a great afternoon at our neighbours, Flip of the Coin, during their open day this week. These guys are doing some amazing work and share many of the same values as us, working hard to ensure nobody feels lonely or isolated while promoting positive mental health and wellbeing within our community. 💜
Their new space, The Flipside, is open to everyone, and we would encourage you to pop over to their page and have a look at what they have on offer. You’ll be made very welcome! 😊 Flip of the Coin SCIO
From Saturday 20th June, the Hub Community Pop In room will be opening on Saturdays, and we're delighted by the interest and support we've received so far. We know that weekend opening will make the hub more accessible for many families, and we're looking forward to welcoming even more of our community through the doors. The back room and little snug are still available to hire on a Saturday too.
🛍️ We’re also very excited for our Community Market next weekend! We’ve managed to add even more wonderful local goodies, including jams, tablet, herbal teas, cakes, garden plants, vegetable plants, fresh eggs and honey. We can’t wait to welcome everyone along and showcase some of the fantastic produce and talent our community has to offer. And, of course, all of these will complement the already amazing range of crafts and stalls we have on board. There really will be something for everyone! 😊
💰 We’re delighted to have officially made it through to the second round of two major funding applications! 🤞
Of course, that doesn’t mean we’ve secured them just yet, but hopefully we’ll be back soon with some good news and be able to start rolling out lots of exciting new family projects at the hub.
Finally, a special thank you to Moss n Wild for providing some beautiful little posies for our volunteers yesterday. 🌸 Our volunteers give so much of their time, energy and kindness to support our families and community, and we are incredibly grateful for everything they do. We simply couldn't do what we do without them. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication — we appreciate every single one of you. 💜
Have a super weekend, folks! 🦊
Ps - Tin donations welcome for our Food bank. Many thanks
