Tournament Thursday 25th June 2026

Three Westborough BC ladies took part in the Headcorn Ladies Triples Tournament this year. The original format was to play 4 games of 9 ends but due to the weather this was reduced to 4 games of 5 ends. WBC ladies played two games against Kemsley ladies and won both games. Their next game was against Hunton, which they also won. Their final game was against Northiam, unfortunately WBC ladies lost this game. However despite losing their final game WBC ladies were the overall winners of the tournament. The ladies that played were Pat Gill and Eileen.

It is a very sad day today having seen that the Bowls green that Westborough have played on for over 40 years is now up for sale.
The advert states :
Westborough Bowls Club, Cloudberry Close, Maidstone, Kent, ME16 0LY
Bowls Club For Sale -- Potential For Alternative Leisure Uses -- Unique Opportunity
Westborough Bowls Club has been in situ for around 25 years until closing recently upon expiry of their lease.
The Facts are :
• The listing on Rightmove gives the impression that 'The Club' is for sale, it is not, the land is for sale. Although we have no green to play on, the club is still going, playing Away games only.
• 25 years is in fact incorrect WBC have been playing on that green for over 40 years.
• Last year WBC celebrated 100 years.
• It is true that we can no longer play on the green but the reason is not only because of the expiry of the lease. WBC offered to buy the property but the owners turned down our offers.
• Despite saying P.O.A. they will not divulge the asking price.

Ready to start the 2026 season which would be our one hundred and first year as a club. Unfortunately it is not to be though, as the owners of the property refused to extend our lease and our offer to purchase the property.
