Higher Ground

Today our Green Fingers club planted out sweet peas, watered the young plants in the polytunnel including their young sweetcorn plants, re-potted some crystal lemon cucumber plants and tomato plants to take home for their gardens.

We had a lovely conversation at tge end about things that make us happy about being outdoors and some of their happiest memories of being in nature.

Thank you to Mrs Huddleston for helping supervise the group. Looking forward to group 2 next week!

Get creative, channel your inner Carmen Miranda and enter our Big Blousy Bonnet competition at our 10th birthday party and win a box of plants 🪴 plus the admiration of all your friends.

The only criteria for entry is that there must be some garden, fruit or vegetable theme and must be able to be worn on your head!

Our party is on Saturday 20th June from 11am and the bonnets will be judged and and the winner announced at 2pm - all ages welcome!

Introducing Susan, our beautiful new duck.

She's settling in well with her partner, David who is our last remaining offspring of Fletch and Hillary, and he thinks all his Christmasses have come at once. What a lucky lad 🥰🦆🦆

Plant sale ready!!

Don't forget it's our plant sale this Saturday in the Medway. Mostly perennials, some trees, wildflowers and some hanging baskets. There will be cake!

Date for your diaries, our annual plant sale will be happening on 30th May at the Medway. As usual with coffee and cake.

We had a busy afternoon at Green Fingers club yesterday. The children learned about handling and re-potting seedlings, taking cuttings from house plants to take home and finished with a plant quiz.
They'll be back to see how the veg has grown in September.

This is a sad post, but two of our wee bachelor ducks got really suddenly sick and died yesterday. First one of the Fletchers, then the big brother, Ripley. Our other two are not eating today and it looks like they're going the same way. It could be a number of reasons but we wonder if they've been fed something over the fence. We know it comes from a good place but please don't feed our ducks anything, we feed them proper duck food every day they don't need any more. Here's hoping the last two make it 🙏 🤞

8 years ago we started ground works on the old First School field,(these photos were taken in Feb 2018) beginning with planting a Rosa Rugosa hedge along the boundary of the school. the site looks very different now and it's still changing.

We are looking forward to another growing season and working with our brilliant team of volunteers to grow our tasty veg and keep the garden looking beautiful!
