Your Local Air Ambulance WNDLR

Your Local Air Ambulance WNDLR Welcome to your local Air Ambulance Alfreton retail store where your buys help save lives. Shop, donate or volunteer to help keep us flying.

Every day of the year, your local air ambulance (Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland) is helping save more lives. Our critical care paramedics, doctors and pilots attend an average of 10 rescue missions a day. We are supported by a Critical Care Car meaning that we can reach those who need us 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. We receive no governm

ent funding and rely entirely on donations to raise the £2,300 we need for each mission. Find out more at theairambulanceservice.org.uk

Last week, our Your Local Air Ambulance WNDLR crews responded to 89 missions across 10 counties, with patients taken to 9 different hospitals. Friday was our busiest day with 21 jobs, while Monday was the quietest with 9 🚁

Looking at the types of incidents we attended, medical emergencies remained the largest category at 40%, followed by RTCs at 18%, assaults at 15%, and falls at 11%. The remaining missions included other trauma, psychiatric, burns, industrial and sports-related incidents.

These figures give a useful picture of the range of emergencies our crews are called to each week, and the specialist care needed to support patients across the region 💛

Our Your Local Air Ambulance WNDLR helicopters and Critical Care Cars work together to bring specialist emergency care to patients as quickly as possible. Our helicopter can fly at speeds of up to 185mph and carries the latest lifesaving equipment, while our Critical Care Cars provide vital backup when flying isn’t possible or when road access is the fastest option.

Both are staffed by highly trained medical crews, helping us deliver hospital-level care at the scene of an emergency, 24/7, 365 days a year. To learn more about our vehicles, visit: https://ylaa.uk/vehicles 🚨🚁

Just two weeks after returning from a family holiday in Florida, Jason Falls’ life changed in an instant during what should have been an ordinary day out in Castle Donington. While visiting car dealerships with his fiancée, Emma, and their children, Jason suddenly collapsed in the rain with no pulse.

Thankfully, staff at the dealership responded immediately, starting CPR and using a defibrillator that had only recently been installed. Your Local Air Ambulance WNDLR and a land ambulance were both called, and Jason was without a pulse for around 25 minutes before crews were able to stabilise him and take him to Royal Derby Hospital.

Jason spent almost three weeks in hospital, where he was later diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and fitted with an internal defibrillator. His story is a powerful reminder of why rapid specialist care and public access to defibrillators matter so much.

April was another busy month for our crews, with 317 missions completed across the region. We flew for 69 hours, our Critical Care Cars covered 6,889 miles, and we responded to an average of 10 missions every day.

Medical was our top mission category, and Derbyshire was the county we were called to most often. Every one of these responses helps save lives, but we can only keep being there thanks to the generosity of our supporters.

Please consider making a donation to help keep our charity ready to respond when patients need us most: https://ylaa.uk/donate
