Project Manager – The Deer Shed Café
Location: Alfreton Park
Organisation: The Deer Shed (Registered Charity)
The Deer Shed is seeking an experienced, motivated, and community-minded Project Manager to support the launch and day-to-day leadership of The Deer Shed Café.
This is an exciting and rewarding role that combines café operations management with training and development leadership. You will play a central role in supporting young people aged 19–25 with additional needs to build skills, confidence, and meaningful pathways into employment.
The Role
The successful candidate will:
• Lead the daily operations of a busy, community-focused café
• Manage food preparation, service standards, health and safety, and stock control
• Support and train young people with learning disabilities in a structured, nurturing environment
• Oversee staff, mentors, and volunteers
• Help shape and develop the café as a sustainable social enterprise
• Foster confidence, independence, and employability skills among trainees

About You
You will:
• Have strong café, restaurant, or hospitality experience at a management or supervisory level
• Possess excellent food preparation and operational skills
• Be an effective leader with strong organisational and communication abilities
• Have a genuine passion for inclusion, social impact, and improving outcomes for young people with additional needs

The Deer Shed is a charity founded by Alfreton Park School. It exists to provide a vital bridge between education and employment for young people with additional needs. Through real-world work experience and professional training, we help young people build confidence, develop practical skills, and navigate the transition into adult life and employment.
