Amber Valley Against INcinerators (AVAIN)

Amber Valley Against INcinerators is a community-based organisation opposed to the building of a Waste to Energy Gasification Incinerator on the Pye Bridge Industrial Estate in Derbyshire.

We heard yesterday that Warwick Energy have withdrawn their application to Derbyshire County Council to build an incinerator at Pye Bridge. While we welcome the fact that Warwick have halted plans to build an incinerator near our schools and communities, we are aware that this is not the end of the fight as Warwick Energy apparently prepare a revised proposal for the site. What form this will take is not currently known and AVAIN hope that any future developments will not release harmful emissions on the doorstep of our families. We will keep everyone posted as more information becomes available and continue to keep a watchful eye on how this company operates in our area. Many thanks to all for the years of hard work by all involved.

It's been over three years since AVAIN was formed and still no news from Warwick Energy on the Pye Bridge Incinerator. Some say no news is good news, but we still persist in fighting this development. We are not going anywhere, we live here and our families have enjoyed 3 years of fresh air so far. The fight is still on and Warwick still do not have Planning permission to build this polluting plant.

Summer approaches and still no progress on the Pye Bridge incinerator. The council seem to think that Warwick Energy will withdraw the application soon and submit a new proposal. What this will be is a mystery but rest assured we will be watching closely! Enjoy the wet fresh air!

Seasons greetings and a happy new year to all. Still no news on the incinerator at Pye Bridge. Derbyshire County Council have received no further information from Warwick Energy about the application. No news is good news, but we remain vigilant. Thanks for everyone's help this year, have a restful holiday. We'll keep everyone posted on developments in the new year

It has been over two years since AVAIN was formed in response to the incinerator proposals at Pye Bridge. Time has flown and things have been quiet of late. Derbyshire County Council have still not put the application to the planning committee as information from the applicant Warwick Energy has not been forthcoming. We know Warwick have not forgotten about this proposal to burn waste for cash in our community and we are fully aware that one day in the future we have to be ready to fight for the right to fresh air. Rest assured we are not going anywhere, we live here! We have not forgotten and we will not accept anything short of a refusal of this ridiculous idea. We will keep everyone posted if there are developments. Enjoy the falling leaves, but don't hibernate too much as we may need you over the winter months.

The joys of Spring are almost here and AVAIN are still waiting to hear any fresh news about the incinerator at Pye Bridge. We have been seeking professional advice about the new National Planning Policy Framework in relation to the incinerator and will keep all informed of developments in due course. The application is still being put on hold at present by Warwick Energy and DCC are currently waiting for further discussion before the application goes to committee. We are watching closely!

Springtime arrives and we still have not heard anything new from Warwick Energy about the incinerator at Pye Bridge. The proposal is still with DCC while the developer consider their options. Hopefully they have seen the light through fresh Spring air and can find a more friendly, safe use for the site. AVAIN continue to keep a watchful eye on things and keep up to date with new planning legislation. Rest assured we will keep everyone posted if anything develops. Enjoy the clean, fresh air!!!

AVAIN were delighted to hear that Warwick Energy recently lost their planning appeal for a massive electricity substation in Little Dunham, Norfolk. Best wishes go to campaigners who fought Warwick and won. They have saved their environment for generations to come and proved what can be achieved by people power.

Autumn Update: Still no date set by Derbyshire County Council to make a decision on the Pye Bridge Incinerator. Will it even be this year? As soon as AVAIN know we will let you know.
Rest assured we are ready and will be there in force with new research and stern argument. Spread the word, the fight continues!

Environ. Agency Issue Permit for Pye Bridge:AVAIN are disappointed at this development despite our efforts. The incinerator CANNOT be built unless Warwick Energy get planning permission from Derbyshire County Council. This has NOT been granted and no date has been set yet for the committee to make the decision. Rest assured when the date is set we will let everybody know and we will be there in force to have our say.
