***CARMAN HILL UPDATE***

We have been in contact with Chief Inspector Lynn Edwards, Local Area Commander for West Dunbartonshire. This follows Alexandria CC's own concerns as well as others shared by the public about alleged driver behaviour on the road including reported speeding at Carman Fishery area.

This has been referred to the Community Policing team who will liaison with us and forwarded to West Dunbartonshire Council about possible measures that can be taken including speed calming.

We thank Chief Inspector Edwards for her support.

***CARMAN HILL***

Although out of our boundary, Alexandria residents have raised concerns to us about the safety of the road from Renton to Cardross via Carman Hill (Cardross Road from the Renton side).

This road is a well used route for people travelling to Cardross and beyond including the Cardross Crematorium. The main topic of concern is alleged driver behaviour on this road including speeding particularly the point where many pedestrians are using Carman Fishery.

Correspondence from us to West Dunbartonshire Council, Police Scotland and Jackie Baillie MSP over these concerns are ongoing.

This post is to ask the local community - Alexandria and beyond - about your views about this road. Comments will be collated.

***WDC RESPONSE TO ALEXANDRIA CC EMAIL REGARDING REMOVAL OF PORTALOOS INCLUDING ALEXANDRIA - PROVIDED BY COUNCILLOR JIM BOLLAN, LEVEN WARD***

I am now able to confirm the automated toilet in Alexandria was closed along with another 3 as part of the cuts in the budget passed by WDC.

***ALEXANDRIA CC CORRESPONDENCE TO WDC LEVEN COUNCILLORS IN RELATION TO TOLL PATH/CYCLE PATH SAFETY BETWEEN BALLOCH AND RENTON AT RIVER LEVEN***

Dear Leven Councillors,

Following concerns from local residents, Alexandria CC are getting in touch about the route between Balloch and Renton. With the path used frequently by both cyclists and pedestrians next to the fast flowing River Leven, we are interested to find out who are the main body responsible of maintaining signage and designation to make it a safe place for all to use.

Your assistance in this matter would be much appreciated.

***REFUSE BIN COLLECTION - RESIDENT FEEDBACK***

Alexandria CC want to hear views from residents about the effects of the three weekly refuse bin collection which was introduced on November 2025. This includes the limit of one refuse bin per household apart from exemptions.

Recycle bins collected twice in the same three weekly period.

Please use the comments with all relevant information collated for next meeting in August.
