The pupils all through Alderwood School have excelled themselves again. Today new artworks were put up in the waiting room ready in time for Armed Forces Day - the theme was '"Exploring the proud heritage of our Armed Forces"

Thank-you to all who submitted their art and for the school with enabling the pupils to explore the history of the British Army, the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force. The pupils discovered many long traditions that help define the Armed Forces' proud heritage.

You may have noticed some changes have been happening over the last few months to the abandoned area behind the railings, at the front of the station. Well all the way back in November last year, our intrepid volunteers started to clear the w**ds and brambles.

With only a small number of people we have tried our best to make a big impact.

Our planters have recently had the inner linings changed - so rather than waste the plants we have replanted them and put them to good use the brighten up a previously neglected area, ready to cheer up the station and all the passengers and locals who pass through.

Our aim has been to be ready for the upcoming Armed Forces Day and for Stations in Bloom. Judging was today so we are crossing everything. 🀞

Lots of advice here on how you can join in with Ribbon of Poppies, and suggested places to buy. Please do like and share the page so we can spread the word as well as spreading our poppy seeds now so there will be an amazing coverage ready in Bloom for Armed Forces Day in June.

Following on from our recent Silver Award, it was a lovely day for a group of us to meet at the station to have a good tidy up in time for remembrance day

It was great to be able to talk to some passengers who were offering thanks for the work the team had put in, they said how amazing the summer flowers have looked and how it has been so lovely to see.

We are all really looking forward to the time when our new planters can be installed and we can start to plant them up.

We are hoping to be able to arrange a date in the not too distant future (once we have permission from the station) to get a work party in and w**d the area out in front under the pedestrian bridge. If you would be interested in joining in with us then please do send a FB message or email [email protected]

We are very proud as a group to have received a Silver Guilt Certificate awarded by South and South East in Bloom at an event held at Wisley.

Here we can see Judy receiving the award on behalf of our small group of regular gardeners who tend to the planters, garden and keep Aldershot Station looking so good. Well done to all involved.
