BEACHGOERS WARNING ⚠️ Please SHARE!

If you're visiting the Norfolk or Suffolk coast this summer, please take care when walking in shallow water or along the shoreline.

Venomous weever fish have been reported along parts of the East Anglian coastline. These small fish bury themselves beneath the sand in shallow water, making them very difficult to spot. If stepped on, their dorsal spines can cause an extremely painful sting.
What to watch for:
• Fish hidden just beneath the sand
• Sudden, intense pain if stung
• Higher risk when paddling barefoot

Stay safe by:
• Wearing beach shoes or sandals in the water
• Shuffling your feet rather than stepping heavily
• Keeping an eye on children playing at the water’s edge
• Seeking first aid if stung

If you are stung, immerse the affected area in hot (not scalding) water as soon as possible, as heat can help break down the venom. Seek medical advice if symptoms are severe or continue.

Please SHARE this warning to help keep friends, families and visitors safe while enjoying the Norfolk and Suffolk coastline this summer.

NEVER MISS A BIN COLLECTION!

A new East Suffolk Council app has officially launched, helping residents stay on top of recycling changes and local council services across East Suffolk.

The FREE APP allows users to quickly check which bin is due for collection each week, find out what can go into each bin, and receive handy reminders ahead of collection day. Residents can also opt in for alerts about delayed collections.

Alongside recycling information, the app includes access to the latest council news, locations of council-owned car parks, public toilets, and leisure centres, as well as local food hygiene ratings before dining out.

Are you completely mad about Shakespeare? Then this one’s for you… quite literally!

Mad About Shakespeare arrives at Aldeburgh Jubilee Hall from 29th–31st May for a brilliantly thought-provoking (and slightly unhinged) weekend exploring madness in Shakespeare’s greatest plays.

Featuring an incredible line-up including Harriet Walter, Jonathan Bate, Regeneration Theatre, Colin Hurley, and Michael Hoffmann, audiences can expect drama, insight, performance, passion, and probably a few theatrical breakdowns along the way.

To be, or not to be there… honestly, there’s only one answer. For more information, see our events guide online: www.aldeburghsuffolk.com/events
