Thank you everyone for coming out to see Santy today around Aith, Brae and Voe - hope you enjoyed it!

Luckily we avoided icebergs and the only thing we ran into was an abundance of Christmas cheer! πŸŽ…πŸ» πŸŽ„

Merry Christmas everyone!

If you enjoyed today’s spectacle then you might consider a small donation to the RNLI’s Christmas Appeal: thank you πŸ™πŸ» ⬇️

Please help us to spread the word of a very exciting guest joining the Aith lifeboat for its next training exercise! πŸŽ…πŸŒŠ

On Tuesday 23rd December, the lifeboat will set off up the west side of Aith voe, follow the east side of Muckle Roe, nip into Brae and Voe, and then head back down the east side of Aith voe.

We will be setting off from the Aith pier at 12 mid day. Exact timings are very subject to weather and conditions, but folk can keep an eye on the lifeboat's progress using this link: https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/shipid:182866/zoom:13

Hopefully this will allow bairns (and excitable adults!) the chance to come and wave and take part in some festive excitement: but please be safe on piers and at coastlines - we are hoping to keep it as a training exercise only!

Also: please consider a donation to the RNLI's Christmas Appeal, and help save lives at sea: https://rnli.org/support-us/give-money/give-to-a-special-appeal/christmas-appeal

We'll share any updates on this post, and please feel free to share any photos you get here too. For now: spread the word - and wishing a very merry Christmas to all of our supporters! Thank you! πŸŽ„

We are really chuffed to officially welcome Nathan Mann to Aith as our newly appointed coxswain πŸ‘πŸ’™πŸ§‘

No stranger to the station, and with plenty of RNLI experience, the crew is looking forward to working under his leadership and supporting him as he settles into the job!

The most northerly lifeboat station in the UK has announced the appointment of Nathan Mann as its new coxswain. 30 year old Nathan brings a solid 10+ years of lifesaving experience to the role in Aith, having previously been part of the volunteer RNLI crew for its station in Lerwick.

🚨 Lerwick RNLI are hosting a Volunteer Recruitment Day this Saturday 19 July between 11am and 4pm. 🚨

We're on the lookout for volunteers to help us continue our lifesaving work - from operational lifeboat crew, to a water safety officer, and even supporting with social media. There's something for everyone! 🌊

Come down to Lerwick RNLI this Saturday to find out more, speak to our crew and grab a brew. See you then! β˜•
