This summer, Rosie – one of our wonderful trustees – is doing something amazing to raise money for Jubilee Campaign as she celebrates her 60th birthday… a sponsored wing walk!!

Yes… she’ll be strapped to the top of a flying plane 😲

Rosie was our first paid employee back in the 1980s and played a key role in speaking up against injustice. She has supported the work ever since, and now serves as one of our trustees.

If you’d like to support Rosie, you can find out more here: https://www.jubileecampaign.co.uk/rosies-wing-walk

Go Rosie – we’re so proud of you 🌟

A typical day at Jessie’s House starts early.
Staff and volunteers arrive first – opening the shop, working on the farm, and tending to the chickens. Teachers prepare the classrooms, getting everything ready for the day ahead.
Soon after, the children begin to arrive.
Many come early – to play, to enjoy food and clean water, to be with friends, and simply to be children, free from the responsibilities they carry at home.
By the time school begins, the whole place is alive with laughter and energy.
The 160 children enrolled at Jessie’s House Academy are among the most vulnerable in the community.
Here, each day, they receive what every child should have:
food and clean water, education, safety and protection – and the freedom to just be children.

It’s easy to forget how much of life starts with the land.
Through our Heal the Land project, we’re helping families grow their own food in a way that’s sustainable – caring for the soil, conserving water, and building something that will last.
It’s not about quick fixes, but steady change.
Healthier land, stronger communities, and a better future for every child growing up there.

Before the first borehole was dug at Jessie’s House in 2016, Muzondo had no clean water source. Families had to walk 5km each day to collect water.
Access to clean water has completely changed daily life here in Muzondo.
It’s so easy for us to take water for granted when water is always available at the turn of a tap, but it’s something many communities still live without.
Now, we’re working to protect the water sources in Muzondo from drying out, using sustainable farming techniques.

A quiet moment from Jessie’s House this morning.
Many of the children arrive early before the day begins, sharing snacks and enjoying time to play together in the park before lessons start.
Many of the children attending Jessie’s House have been orphaned or are living in child‑headed households. Despite the challenges they face, Jessie’s House provides a space for all 160 pupils to learn, eat, play, and simply enjoy being children.

In Muzondo, access to water has become increasingly fragile and this affects every family in the community.
When local water sources began to dry up, we launched Heal the Land from Jessie’s House, a five year project focused on restoring the land and protecting vital water sources.
The Heal the Land team take part in sustainable farming and water harvesting training at Jessie’s House with experts in Zimbabwe who successfully transformed their own community.
Sustainable agriculture is proving to be one of the most effective ways communities can respond to climate pressure — restoring depleted soil, improving food security, and helping families thrive.

Heal the Land aims to:
• Protect water sources
• Combat hunger and child malnutrition
• Strengthen food security for families
• Restore barren and desertified land
