MUD, MUD, GLORIOUS MUD there's nothing quite like it for making your grub..... A request for outdoor play kitchen facilities for the children at the Braemar School Nursery has now come to fruition. Lead Shedder Alan T has been working hard to build the unit at the Aboyne Men's Shed over the last few weeks and Today assisted by Shedder Mick M delivered the new Mud kitchen. The children are absolutely thrilled and immediately started preparing their chosen recipes.....

HAVE YOU NOTICED THAT THE NOTICE BOARD AT TORPHINS PRIMARY SCHOOL IS NOTICEABLY BETTER?..... Back in March the Aboyne Men's Shed were asked if they could repair the decaying remains of the School notice board which had sadly seen better days..... challenge accepted, shedders Mick M and Mike D were on site today fixing the fully refurbished Board onto the wall. That's much better!! Enjoy πŸ˜€

ITS A DOGS LIFE AND THIS ONE IS ALREADY WELL DECORATED! Locals will know Diesel as a famous and highly decorated English Springer Spaniel search and rescue dog based in Portlethen, Aberdeenshire, who served with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and UK International Search and Rescue team from 2015 to 2020. He was a renowned hero known for finding trapped survivors using his powerful nose. On his passing in December 2022 this super carved wooden monument was created for the owner and handler Gary Carroll and has been a lasting reminder of a loyal companion. Gary's wife, Marianne contacted the Aboyne Men's Shed and asked if we could spruce him up after the ravages of the Scottish weather had left him a little windswept..... here's the result. Thanks go to shedder Mick for his work on this.

Did you know that Gary can help you train your dog? If you need help here's the link to his page.... https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61582783230869

Its always a pleasure to help local groups and with the spring weather improving the shedders are well into the garden seat refurbishment season now. This one came in to us from Torphins Playgroup and was in need of repair and refurbishment.
The completed seat is now back at the Playgroup premises in fine condition ready for use by the children (and adults), lets hope we have a fine summer so they can enjoy it with their outdoor activities!

This Hover is no Bovver!! ...... We do get some very unusual items in for repair in the shed and last week this Hoverboard appeared on our technical bench, top marks for shedder Dave P who managed to bring it back to life.... but how do we road test it? One of the shedders grandchildren happened to be visiting us from Australia ..... result, the shed workshop instantly becomes a "make do" hoverboard test track......

MY BACK ROW ANTICS AT THE CINEMA NEVER INVOLVED THESE INSTRUMENTS..... Wow ! on my bench today was a very tatty cardboard box containing a German Toy Magic Lantern and Cinematograph manufactured by GBN (Gedbrude Bing Nuremberg). My research dates it at around 1910 - 1919, sadly the paraffin/oil burner lamp unit is missing so it probably had a battery lamp fitted in later years.
There are 12 glass slides with coloured images and also 3 looped 35mm films along with a 4th broken one. For its age its lasted incredibly well and in particular the original box that contained it all.
Once again, its all up for sale on Micks Marketplace pages for the princely sum of Β£75. Boy! what a Christmas present this would make for anyone interested in film and slide show history.

* This item has now been sold and is heading over to Stonehaven.
