Now September is here, we'll be back to our regular bi-weekly litter picks! First one is this FRIDAY 4TH September, 10am to 12pm.

If you want to get involved in helping to keep our neighbourhoods clear of rubbish, come along! All welcome.

Steve's first trek of September tomorrow will be the Llanfoist - Govilon circular. A very pleasant walk of about 4 miles along good paths & tracks. The walk follows the old Abergavenny to Brynmawr train line up to Govilon, then returns back along the Brecon & Monmouth canal footpath to Llanfoist wharf. Finally returning to Llanfoist down a steepish path past St Faith's Church.

The weather looks to be sunny /cloudy but there could be some rain around 11am. Please check the forecast and dress for the weather.

Walk starts at 10.30 from the small car park off the road leading to the garden centre in Llanfoist, NP7 9LP.

Steve's Trek tomorrow 25th August will be the Cwmtyleri - Mynydd James circular. A very pleasant walk of about 4 miles along forestry tracks and good paths. The route climbs up through the forest, then a circular walk around the top and back down. Beautiful views across the valley.

Please note, there are two steepish descents and part of the track is rutted. Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing and be mindful of your own level of fitness. Livestock may be encountered along the way so please keep dogs on short leads. Remember to keep hydrated!

Steve's Trek tomorrow 18th August will be the Pen-Y-Fan Pond - Traveller's Rest circular. A short but very pleasant walk of about 2.5 miles along good paths and road.

Horse riders may be encountered on this walk so please be mindful if bringing dogs. Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing and bring water if the weather is hot.

PLEASE NOTE that the road up from Aberbeeg may be closed. If so, an alternative route would be to go down the A467 to Crumlin, then up Kendon Hill towards Oakdale. Turn right at the first traffic lights, then follow signs for Pen-Y-Fan Pond.

Steve's Trek tomorrow Tuesday 11th August will be the Keeper's Pond - Foxhunter circular. A moderate pleasant walk of about 4 miles with great views. Walk goes down from Keeper's Pond to Pwll Du, then back along part of the Iron Mountain trail, passing the Balance Pond. The route then goes down grassy paths to Foxhunter car park, then back down to Keeper's Pond.

The path may be steep and stony in places and livestock may be encountered. It may be hot weather, so please bring water and be sure to wear appropriate footwear and clothing.

The walk will start from Keeper's Pond car park at 10.30. If the car park is full, please find a safe spot to park nearby. The car park is just off the B4246 road, NP4 9SR.
