This week look around your garden, balcony or local green space and see what creatures you can spot πŸ¦πŸπŸ¦‹πŸ¦Ž

Don't forget, it's important not to disturb the wildlife that you find but do take photos, draw pictures or write a list of things you see 😊

Yesterday we litter picked from St Paul's Church Hall down to the top of Crook Hill in Cwmtyleri. Between 4 of us we collected 7 bags of litter, an assortment of larger items that had been dumped, as well as the ubiquitous broken recycling receptacles - boxes, lids and bags scattered by winter winds.

There were also hazardous items that we had to leave. These included a bag full of old decaying nappies thrown in a bush, and 4 carrier bags filled with dog poo bags and some puppy training pads. These were left by a dog poo bin.

The land where the old Top Hat Club stood and the front entrance of the old Blaentillery Primary school seem to have become a favourite dumping hotspots too. This is not only an eyesore in our community but extremely hazardous to people and animals.

All of the above are examples of fly-tipping. Unacceptable and criminal. They have now been reported to Blaenau Gwent Council, which anyone can easily do either via the BGCBC app or by calling the council on 01495 311556.

We ALL have a responsibility to keep our neighbourhoods safe and clear of litter, and reporting it is one easy way to contribute!
With people and council working together, we can make our communites lovely places to live.

It's time for change so get on board and πŸ’—

BLACK BAGS & FURNITURE dumped by the side of the road;
FAST FOOD PACKAGING thrown from a car window;
BUSINESS-RELATED WASTE carelessly discarded in nature;
HOUSEHOLD & BUILDING MATERIALS BURNT
These are all familiar examples of illegal waste disposal that take place in our community.

This behaviour negatively impacts on all of us in a variety of ways - environmentally, economically and in terms of our mental & physical health.

It is however, the actions of the minority. Most people want to live in clean tidy environments that are safe for humans and animals. So what can we do about it?

It's well documented that when people work together to improve their communities, anti-social behaviour lessens. Litter attracts litter but keeping the area clean and looked after discourages it. It's up to all of us to help bring about change. The best way to combat negative action is through positive action!

Join our Keep Wales Tidy - Cadwch Gymru'n Daclus LITTER HUB TEAM every other Friday morning to meet like-minded people and be a part of something good πŸ’—

NEXT PICK: Friday 29th May 10am - 12pm from St Paul's Church Hall in Cwmtyleri, NP13 1LG.
All welcome! πŸ™Œ
