Like many residents, we were deeply dismayed to see Aberdour become the backdrop for organised disorder on Tuesday evening.
Our village is known for its strong community spirit, welcoming atmosphere, and the significant investment that has gone into enhancing our beaches and public spaces as destinations for both residents and visitors.
It is particularly disappointing that the actions of a small minority have brought unwanted national attention and disrupted local life.
We would like to commend Police Scotland for their swift and professional response in separating the groups involved and preventing further escalation.
And also want to sincerely thank the many residents who acted responsibly by contacting the police and assisting where they could. Community vigilance and cooperation are vital in situations like this. While it is reassuring that no injuries and or damage were reported, we recognise that the incident has caused concern and distress.
Aberdour remains a safe and welcoming place, and we will continue to work closely with Police Scotland, Safer Communities, the Council, Fife Coast and Countryside Trust and our local partners to ensure that it stays that way.
The behaviour witnessed does not reflect our community. We are proud of the positive progress being made in the village, and we will not allow the actions of a few to define Aberdour.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Police Scotland quoting reference 2644 - 7 April.
