Did anyone else feel the instant mood boost when the sun finally appeared in Aberdeen this week? ☀️
After months of dark mornings, grey skies and freezing weather, it’s not surprising that a little sunshine can make such a big difference to how we feel.
Weather and mental health can be more connected than people realise. Sunlight helps increase serotonin levels, improve sleep patterns and boost energy, while long periods of cold, dark weather can sometimes leave people feeling low, exhausted or unmotivated.
If you struggle more during darker months, you are not alone, and it’s important to remember there’s nothing “silly” about that. Your mental wellbeing can absolutely be affected by your environment.
Sometimes even small moments... fresh air, daylight, movement or a conversation with someone you trust can help more than you think 🤍
