Did anyone else feel the instant mood boost when the sun finally appeared in Aberdeen this week? ☀️

After months of dark mornings, grey skies and freezing weather, it’s not surprising that a little sunshine can make such a big difference to how we feel.

Weather and mental health can be more connected than people realise. Sunlight helps increase serotonin levels, improve sleep patterns and boost energy, while long periods of cold, dark weather can sometimes leave people feeling low, exhausted or unmotivated.

If you struggle more during darker months, you are not alone, and it’s important to remember there’s nothing “silly” about that. Your mental wellbeing can absolutely be affected by your environment.

Sometimes even small moments... fresh air, daylight, movement or a conversation with someone you trust can help more than you think 🤍

Strong minds need quiet moments too. 💙

Life can feel heavy sometimes... pressure, stress, responsibility, constantly being expected to “just get on with it.”
World Meditation Day is a reminder that taking a moment to pause isn’t weakness… it’s self-care.

Meditation doesn’t have to mean sitting in silence for hours. It can be:
🔹 Taking a few deep breaths
🔹 Going for a walk to clear your head
🔹 Switching off from noise and distractions
🔹 Giving yourself 5 minutes to reset

Looking after your mental wellbeing is just as important as looking after your physical health.

Real strength is checking in with yourself. 👊

Mental Health Week 2026 has been a blast!

On Saturday, we had the pleasure of visiting Tillydrone Campus, which was a great opportunity to network with other organisations.
On Monday, we visited Altrad followed by Technip FMC.
Tuesday was spent at HMP Grampian alongside some of the Men In Mind team.
Then on Thursday, we headed to Aberdeen Airport — unfortunately we didn’t manage a cheeky holiday, even after enduring the biggest hailstones ever 😳

Being able to access organisations and deliver our Lunch & Learns is incredibly important for our group, and the donations we receive for attending make a huge difference in helping us continue our work.

A huge thank you to Merryn for kindly creating our content for this week’s mental health activities 👏

Big thank you to Alex camdenshouse for the £100 voucher for our upcoming wellbeing day 💫 Tried the new machines today and loved it — the Infrashape definitely put me to work 😮‍💨
If you haven’t been to Camden’s House yet, go check them out! Thanks for having us ❤️

Some of our amazing ladies have signed up to take on the Mighty Stride – an 18-mile Kilt Walk on 7th June! 🥾🏴

They’ll be walking every step to help raise funds and support the running costs of our group, so we can continue providing the opportunities and experiences that mean so much to everyone involved.

If you’re able to donate, share, or cheer them on, we’d be incredibly grateful 💜
Every contribution – big or small – really does make a difference.

Thank you for your support!

It’s Mental Health Awareness Week and this year the theme is taking action 🙌

We know first-hand how taking action is an important part of improving and coping with your mental health. Every woman that comes along to our group, even if they don’t speak, is taking action and getting help when they’re struggling.

Action doesn’t have to be perfect to be impactful, what matters most is that you make taking action for good mental health a priority in your life. Use this week to start a conversation or take one small step for yourself. Whatever action looks like for you, it matters, even if that’s just recognising that you need help.

If you’re ready to take action for yourself, come along to our peer support group next Monday at 7pm in Cove to talk with other women who understand what you’re going through.
