Yesterday, as part of ACCORD Hospice's special Pay for the Day celebration, we had the pleasure of interviewing Accord and three inspiring students from Renfrew High School whose YPI project helped secure one of the six grants awarded to the charity over the past two years.

We heard why students chose Accord, what winning meant to them, and how the experience has made a difference. We also explored the impact the funding has had on Accord and how charities can build meaningful connections with young people through YPI Scotland.

Their story is a brilliant example of what can happen when young people are given the opportunity to champion a cause they believe in and a charity takes the time to meet them where they are, build a connection and support them through their YPI journey.

The celebration highlighted how important winning the YPI grant is for Accord with £9000 covering the running cost for one day, however charity reps, Gaynor McAtear and Victoria Irvine spoke passionately about reaching a new generation of supporters. In total, £18k has been awarded from Paisley Grammar School, Renfrew High School, Gleniffer High School and Park Mains High School.

A huge thank you to Accord and the students for sharing their experiences with us. We look forward to sharing more of their story soon!

One of the criteria we ask young people taking part in YPI to meet is - "Demonstrate the times and ways they have connected with the charity"

Pupils from Linlithgow Academy have been doing just that as part of their YPI journey representing Cycling Without Age Scotland Linlithgow and it's amazing to see.

One of the advantages for young people taking part in YPI is the opportunity to meet with new people in their community.

Normally this means some wonderful charity workers and service users but Crieff High School - PKC students had the added bonus of meeting First Minister John Swinney today on their YPI visit to Cyclecrieff

Can't wait to hear all about it.

Another YPI final for this month at Tobermory High School .

As well as learning about community and philanthropy YPI aims to develop skills such as teamwork and presentation and where better to hone your presentation skills than on the big stage.

Where has the time gone?

The first YPI final of this school year was held this week at Lossiemouth High School and what a final it was.

Well done to all the finalists and every young person who has engaged with their community through YPI and of course a huge congratulations to the winning team representing Out of the Darkness Theatre Company

📢 YPI Focus: Social Issues Workshop - coming soon!

If you are an educator involved in YPI delivery in your school this is a great opportunity to dig deeper into how we can encourage awareness of social issues through YPI.

Led by members of the YPI team we will look at how to encourage students to explore social issues and build their understanding of the world around them using our existing and updated resources.

This session will give you an opportunity to share ideas on approaching social issues and encouraging thoughtful classroom discussion as well as examples from some of our young people.
