The next meeting of the Learning Disability Group of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire is happening on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. As part of promoting opportunities for good social lives for people with Learning Disabilities, sometimes we put on events, but we are also promoting what we are calling "ordinary nights out", where there are already events on in a local venues that are seen as welcoming and inclusive. Krakatoa in Aberdeen are hosting the final of the Aberdeen Music Week on Saturday the 12th, have agreed to us promoting the event as a place where some of us meet up and coming along together.

Not everyone with a learning disability feels comfortable going to mainstream bars and gigs, so this is a chance to do it with a bit of support from others as part of Scottish Learning Disability week.

An important update from Scottish Fire & Rescue Service⚠️
The wind direction is pushing smoke from the Cairngorms wildfire into Aberdeen City. If you are affected, please close windows and doors as a precaution and check on vulnerable friends, family and neighbours.

[UPDATE at 3pm on Friday, 24 July]

⚠ Smoke from the ongoing wildfire incident within the Cairngorms National Park is travelling over a wide area due to current weather conditions. ⚠

Residents and businesses in the east area of Aviemore, as well as across parts of Aberdeenshire - including Inverurie, Banchory and Kintore and surrounding areas - and as far as Aberdeen city, may see or smell smoke today and into the weekend.

If you are affected, keep windows and doors closed as a precaution.

The wildfire incident remains dynamic and unpredictable. Changing wind strength and direction can cause flare-ups, reignition and the spread of smoke, with conditions continuing to evolve.

Resources are currently focused on tackling a fire front that has spread into a large area of heather to the east of Ryvoan Bothy and travelling in an easterly direction. This is generating substantial volumes of smoke, reducing visibility in and around Nethy Bridge, and is visible across a wide area, including from the A9. Firefighting operations remain ongoing, supported by helicopter water-bombing and the creation of fire breaks to help contain the fire and prevent further spread.

Firefighters remain deployed to tackling the incident across a vast and complex landscape, supported by ongoing helicopter water-bombing operations. Crews, specialist wildfire resources and partner agencies continue to monitor conditions closely and work to prevent further spread.

Please continue to stay away from the affected areas in the Cairngorms National Park while firefighting operations continue.

Hi all, it's William Rae here as well as being chair of this group am.

I'm planning a licensing office for the Ferryhill and Ruthrieston community council.

I'm posting this as I have a meeting with First Bus and Stagecoach on Monday night and thought it would be good to get some issues. about the bus and public transport , let me know your issues as long as I have them by 6:30 p.m. on Monday night.
