Diving locally at the East Coast and Moray Firth on Sundays (weather dependent), and organising trips around Scotland and abroad. We are one of the most active dive clubs in the Northeast of Scotland. Our membership of 40-50 divers carries out hundreds of dives every year (and no, we do not stop over the winter). We dive locally (East coast and Moray Firth), on the West Coast, the Islands (even St

. We dive from inflatables, hard boats, and the shore. We do wreck dives, night dives, drift dives, decompression dives, and lots of shallow, easy, scenic dives. If you want good, varied, and safe diving in a very relaxed and friendly environment, then we are the club for you! We are very committed to diver training, at basic and more advanced levels, including a wide range of speciality courses (in-house and SSAC-organised). We are purely voluntary and consequently our aim is to train, not to profit, but our standards are fully professional. We also welcome divers from other organisations - your level of training and experience will be taken into account in your cross-over.

Three students and 2 instructors attended the SSAC training weekend in Finnart, Loch Long. The students (Amy, Gareth and William) all did their 4 ten meter qualifying dives and even managed a fair few Branch Diver drills, mainly with instructors from other branches, while Chris and Alex instructed divers from other branches.

February the 6th and time to head off for the Grampian Branch Burns Supper at Ratagan Youth Hostel.
This was the 17th gathering to celebrate the Bard which gives the opportunity for a meet up with like-minded divers and go diving. A chance to indulge in haggis, neeps and tatties and take part in an enjoyable weekend.
Friday and folks arrived at various times and from various airts. Rooms had been allocated and so kit was brought in, food was prepared by some, others had eaten on the way and there was the option of eating out which proved to be a little more difficult as a few of the places usually used were shut.
There were quite a few folk who opted for a night dive and so the sight of lots of dive torches lighting up the beach in front of the hostel and the setting up and donning dive kit looked great. The dives were considered to have been enjoyed with the chance to spot the loch’s underwater night life.
It is good to have the hostel for the group. It’s pleasant, well stocked and set up with hot showers and a warm cosy atmosphere and so before retiring for the night folk gathered in the living room for a blether, a dram and the chance to relax.
Next morning there was the usual after breakfast deciding who was diving with who, the site that was preferred and getting the kit sorted and in a short time it became quiet as all had headed off. Duich has a variety of dive sites which cover silt areas, small rocky reefs, walls and depth if wanted. The life is of the sort found on these types of sites. The water temperature at this time was about 8 degrees.
The day sees much coming and going with some folk doing two dives, checking if kit is working and the cylinder filling. Thank you to Andy for his time looking after the compressor and for Graeme helping out when he was around.
Meanwhile in the kitchen Fiona, spurtle in hand, was starting to pull the food preparation together. She and Lindsey were in charge of this part and we were well fed with haggis, neeps and tatties and a lovely apple crumble to round off. I seem to remember that Jim and Bob were the tattie peelers so well done to the twosome.
The tables were arranged and laid, folk showered and glowing, kilts donned and all ready for the Supper. A lovely surprise had the haggis piped in by Kevin with Graeme doing the address to the haggis.
Chris did the Selkirk Grace, Andy the Immortal Memory, Jim a Toast to the Lassies and Lindsey replied. Poetry and singing followed.
Alex then presented the Paddle, telling folk what the paddle was about before declaring that this years winner was Blaza.
Andy then found himself the centre of attention as he was presented with an Honorary Life Member Certificate from the SSAC as well as being made , along with Lil an honorary member of Grampian Branch. A very unexpected and lovely surprise for both.
Next morning there were quite a few folk heading for the water to get one more dive before heading for home.
The hostel was tidied, dishes washed and the last few folk headed off after a really good weekend.

Our annual trip to Kyle of Tongue last week was a success in many ways: 4 days of diving with lots of opportunities to explore various sides of the island Eilean nan Ron 🤿; stunning underwater world with special visitors (minke whale) on the surface 🐋; marine ID debates on whether it was indeed a big shark 🦈 which was spotted or ‘just a big cod’; and successful mooring operations which left one of our boats sitting high and dry on top of the rocks in the harbour 🚤 Safe to say there are plenty of highlights to remember from this trip! Some more underwater impressions will follow, so keep an eye out to spot them when they’re online 👀

Another successful dive outing on the Moray Coast! This last Sunday we went to Millshore after our original plan to dive at Rosehearty was too choppy 🌊 At Millshore, we had a lovely dive with lots of underwater animals and visitors - some of us were lucky and saw guillemots passing by under the water 🪶

Ten divers (4 trainees, 4 instructors, 2 qualified divers) and a helper went to Macduff for a couple of shore dives yesterday 🤿 The wind went right down when we arrived and we ended up enjoying the sunshine on shore ☀️ Our trainees ticked off some of their open water drills and spotted lots of fish and lobsters, and made friends with the local wild swimming community (swipe to see) 🐟🦞🏊🏻

The sunny weather has kept us busy the last few weeks ☀️ Whether we went diving at Millshore and Rosehearty or completed another successful trainee weight check at Portsoy Harbour 🤿 Some of us even managed to dive in fresh water for a change (how lovely when the dive gear stays ‘clean’), and ventured to Linn O’Dee to see some salmon, trouts and eels 🐟
