Sunday 8th November 2026 PORTLETHEN Distance 8 miles Moderate
Meet at the small car park opposite the “The Neuk” in Old Portlethen at 10.30am.
This is a car outing.
We walk along Old Coast Road to Downies village and visit the harbour. Proceeding by crossing the Burn of Daff and circumventing Cran Hill, we then follow the railway line through Newtonhill and over to Windyedge, Gillybrands, Cammachmore and Old Bourtreebush to Portlethen Golf Club and back through Portlethen to Old Portlethen village.
Please get in touch if you require a lift (a contribution towards fuel will be required) Booking not necessary, just turn up

SUNDAY 4th OCTOBER 2026 LONGSIDE TO MAUD via MINTLAW
Additional Coach Outing 9.00am start Northern Route (starting 1 University Library, Bedford Road, 2 Powis Place, 3 Skene Street, back of HMT, 4 Albyn Place (Harlaw Academy), 5 Queens Road (junction with Anderson Drive, 6 six roads roundabout, 7 King Street (St Peters primary school), 8 Bridge of Don Cost £20 for coach hire

MAIN WALK: Starting at Longside from Main Street car park along Station Road we join the Formartine Way at the bridge over the South Ugie Water. We follow the old railway line on an easy path to Mintlaw (toilets available at Happy Plant) Continue on crossing the A950 into Aden Country Park, at this point we turn right towards Deer Abbey. Turn right at Bridgend then right again with a short section of road walking into the Abbey. Superb place for a tea stop!. Back to Bridgend, turn right at the bridge onto Maud. 13kms

INTERMEDIATE WALK: Same route as above but starting at Happy Plant Garden Centre, Mintlaw. 8kms

SHORT WALK: In the area of Maud, where there is a Coffee Shop (Platform 5) and a hotel.

SUNDAY 6th SEPTEMBER 2026 GLENISLA to ALYTH
Coach Outing 9.00am start Southern Route (starting 1 University Library, 2 Bedford Road, 3 Skene Street, at back of HMT, 4 Holburn junction, 5 Riverside Drive) Cost - £20 for coach fare
Main walk: Leader Craig Keilloh: Starting at Kirkton of Glenisla we will follow the Cateran Trail to Alyth, using waymarked paths and minor roads. The paths may be boggy if there is heavy rain with stiles to cross en route. On leaving the car park we cross the bridge over the River Isla there is a stiff climb towards the cairn where walking poles may be an advantage. There is another climb later in the walk but they are both short. Part of the route is a bit overgrown but passable with a pleasant down walk to Alyth. Great views of the area weather permitting. Distance 17kms - 11 miles Strenuous

intermediate walk Leader Iain Hay : Local walk in and around Alyth including Den o" Alyth . Distance 8km - 6 miles approx. Moderate

Short walk: Self guided in the town.

SUNDAY 9th AUGUST 2026 ANNUAL TARFSIDE BBQ AND WALK.
Coach Outing OS Sheet 44 9.00am start, returning 7pm Southern Route (starting 1 University Library, 2 Bedford Road, 3 Skene Street, at back of HMT, 4 Holburn junction, 5 Riverside Drive)
Cost - £20 for coach fare and BBQ TBA cash only please (please state when booking if you require a vegetarian option)
Main walk: we will start at Tarfside taking the Fungle path for approx 2kms on an estate track. We will then head uphill to Craig Soates (503 mtrs) heading towards Mount Een (529mtrs). Heading SE (GR 518818) on a good path to Broomfauld then towards Mile Cairn, at (GR 501798) we head down to Cairncross then a short road walk to Tarfside (10kms with 340mtrs of ascent)
There will be an intermediate walk approx. 6-8kms at a lower level and a leisurely stroll in the area.

BBQ at the Masons Lodge where there is a bar and drinks can be purchased

Sunday 12th July 2026 MORRONE and BIRKWOOD CIRCULAR (various)

COACH OUTING- 9.00am start Western Route Starting at the University Library, Bedford Road and picking up en route out of Aberdeen and beyond on A93
Main Walk.- From Braemar we climb Morrone where, weather permitting we will see some great views. This is a stiff climb on mountain paths with 522 mtrs of ascent. We will return on the same path to a viewpoint at the base of the hill. We will then follow the Birkwood Circular path back to Braemar- Leader Jeanette T

Intermediate walk - In the area of Braemar approx 5-6 miles. Leader Iain H

Short Walk. - Around Braemar -2-3 miles. Leader Alison M
