Aberdeen Ramblers Aberdeen Ramblers operates within the Grampian area of Ramblers Scotland and organises walks of various lengths and grades.

Coach Outing 17th May 0900 start, Western route (starting at Duncan Rice Library, Bedford Road and picking up en route.
Main walk 14km 382mtrs ascent
Sgor Buidhe. From the centre of Ballater we will walk past Monaltrie House crossing the pass of Ballater picking up a land-rover track through the forest under Sgor Buidhe heading towards Creagan Riabhach 533mtrs. Continue towards Craig of Prony 532 mtrs. Continue to Craggan and Pass of Ballater. Picking up The Deeside Way back to Ballater following the River Dee and Golf Course.
Intermediate Walk will be The Seven Bridges. 6 miles fairly level.
This is a circular walk from Ballater following the River Dee crossing 7 bridges.
There will also be a short walk around Ballater.

SUNDAY 12th April 2026 GLAMIS area and CASTLE walks (3 Walks available)
Coach Outing 9.00am start Southern Route (starting at the University Library, Bedford Road and picking up en route, including Portlethen and Stonehaven)
Cost of transport - £20 per person
There will be 3 walks available to suit all abilities
Main walk: From Glamis village we cross the A94 to Charlestown, walking on forest paths with a section on a minor road, then land rover forest path back to Glamis. Total – 9 miles
Intermediate walk: Around Glamis burn and castle grounds Total 5 miles
Short walk: Around Glamis village and castle grounds

Meet at the Castle Fraser (NTS) car park at11.00am, charges for parking will apply if not a NTS member, for a walk round the estate and surrounding area using good paths. Weather conditions may make a change to distance and paths walked. Take a packed lunch, toilets at the castle will be open.
Please get in touch if you require a lift (a contribution to fuel and parking will be required) Booking not necessary, just turn up!

Ramblers Scotland Grampian Area

Saturday 7th February 2026 - Our Annual General Meeting will be held in Stonehaven. The meeting will be preceded by a walk starting from outside St James Church, Arbuthnott Street, Stonehaven, AB39 2JB, NO873857, w3w///unsigned.lampost.explains. There is street parking nearby and it is short walk from the Market Square where the buses stop. The walk will start at 11.00am, and will be the Dunnottar Castle circular. The walk is 5 miles long which should allow for a return to the church by 1pm. From St James Church we walk along the River Carron towards Lowwood Road to reach Carron Gardens, then enter Dunnottar Woods. In Dunnottar Woods we will visit the Shell House, the Icehouse, Gallows Hill and Lady Kennedy’s Bath. We leave Dunnottar Woods and cross the A957 on to a single-track road, passing East Newonleys and the old Stonehaven Radio Station buildings. Stopping for a coffee beside Dunnottar Castle. We will return to Stonehaven along the coastal path, visiting the War Memorial on Black Hill, then down to the harbour and back to St James Church. Lunch can be purchased locally. There will be tea and coffee and home bakes available during the meeting. The walk leader will be Diane Campbell from Stonehaven Group, if you need to contact her mobile number is 07368628743

The venue for the meeting is the St James Church Hall, the meeting will start at 2pm. During the meeting we will discuss local matters and will also be joined by Gavin Corbett, Ramblers Scotland Policy and Advocacy Manager, who will update us on Ramblers Scotland work. The Agenda and Annual Report will be available before the meeting.

Please note that, if due to prevailing bad weather or road conditions, a decision will be taken the day before as the meeting will then be held on line.

Booking not necessary, just turn up!
