SUNDAY 9th AUGUST 2026 ANNUAL TARFSIDE BBQ AND WALK.
Coach Outing OS Sheet 44 9.00am start, returning 7pm Southern Route (starting 1 University Library, 2 Bedford Road, 3 Skene Street, at back of HMT, 4 Holburn junction, 5 Riverside Drive)
Cost - £20 for coach fare and BBQ TBA cash only please (please state when booking if you require a vegetarian option)
Main walk: we will start at Tarfside taking the Fungle path for approx 2kms on an estate track. We will then head uphill to Craig Soates (503 mtrs) heading towards Mount Een (529mtrs). Heading SE (GR 518818) on a good path to Broomfauld then towards Mile Cairn, at (GR 501798) we head down to Cairncross then a short road walk to Tarfside (10kms with 340mtrs of ascent)
There will be an intermediate walk approx. 6-8kms at a lower level and a leisurely stroll in the area.

BBQ at the Masons Lodge where there is a bar and drinks can be purchased

Sunday 12th July 2026 MORRONE and BIRKWOOD CIRCULAR (various)

COACH OUTING- 9.00am start Western Route Starting at the University Library, Bedford Road and picking up en route out of Aberdeen and beyond on A93
Main Walk.- From Braemar we climb Morrone where, weather permitting we will see some great views. This is a stiff climb on mountain paths with 522 mtrs of ascent. We will return on the same path to a viewpoint at the base of the hill. We will then follow the Birkwood Circular path back to Braemar- Leader Jeanette T

Intermediate walk - In the area of Braemar approx 5-6 miles. Leader Iain H

Short Walk. - Around Braemar -2-3 miles. Leader Alison M

SUNDAY 14th June 2026 GLENLIVET SPEYSIDE WAY – TOMINTOUL SPUR (various)
Coach Outing 9.00am start North West Route (starting at the University Library, Bedford Road and picking up en route) including by Anderson Furniture, Inverurie
Cost of transport - £20 per person
There will be 3 walks available to suit all abilities
Main walk: From GlenLivet Distillery by the Speyside Way on good footpaths to the top of Cairn Daimh (570m), short rough section then minor road to Tomintoul. Total – 9 miles, 312m ascent
Intermediate walk: Tomintoul River A’an Circular Walk along the river. 5 miles
Short walk: A stroll around Tomintoul 3 miles

3 good walks on our coach outing to Ballater yesterday. Good weather mostly, then heavy rain.

Coach Outing 17th May 0900 start, Western route (starting at Duncan Rice Library, Bedford Road and picking up en route.
Main walk 14km 382mtrs ascent
Sgor Buidhe. From the centre of Ballater we will walk past Monaltrie House crossing the pass of Ballater picking up a land-rover track through the forest under Sgor Buidhe heading towards Creagan Riabhach 533mtrs. Continue towards Craig of Prony 532 mtrs. Continue to Craggan and Pass of Ballater. Picking up The Deeside Way back to Ballater following the River Dee and Golf Course.
Intermediate Walk will be The Seven Bridges. 6 miles fairly level.
This is a circular walk from Ballater following the River Dee crossing 7 bridges.
There will also be a short walk around Ballater.
