🌙🏍️ Dark nights are here… but NERVS keeps rolling! 🚗💛❤️

The clocks have gone back, the nights are getting darker, and it feels like we barely get daylight before it’s time to switch the lights on again! 🍂🌧️

But while the rest of us are getting cosy on the sofa, our amazing NERVS volunteers are still out and about across the North East of Scotland, supporting the NHS with urgent deliveries when they’re needed. 📦🏥

Whether it’s a motorbike cutting through the darkness or one of our cars heading out on the roads, our volunteers give up their own time to help keep things moving — whatever the weather and whatever the hour. 🏍️🚗

So, a little reminder as those dark nights draw in:

🚘 Drivers: Please keep an extra eye out for bikes, especially in poor weather and low visibility.

🏍️ Bikers: Stay safe, stay visible and take extra care on those darker roads.

💛 Everyone: If you spot a NERVS volunteer out on a run, give them a wave! 👋

💛❤️ A BIG THANK YOU TO BAIRDS PHARMACY! ❤️💛

A huge thank you to Bairds Pharmacy on King Street for kindly allowing NERVS Blood Bikes to leave a charity collection tin in the pharmacy. 🏍️

We popped in to collect the tin and were delighted to hand over an empty tin ready to be filled again! 😍👏

A massive thank you also goes to all the customers who dropped their spare change into our collection tin. Every penny really does make a difference and helps us keep our volunteer-led service running. 💛❤️

Your generosity helps NERVS support NHS Grampian by transporting urgent items across the North East of Scotland, completely free of charge.

We’re so grateful to Bairds Pharmacy and their lovely customers for supporting us. It’s thanks to local businesses and our amazing community that we can continue doing what we do!

❤️💛 A HUGE THANK YOU FROM NERVS BLOOD BIKES! 🏍️

We were delighted to receive a fantastic £500 donation from MR MOTO in Forres, raised through the Poker Run they organised back in August! ♠️♦️♣️♥️

Pictured is our very own Allan accepting the cheque on behalf of NERVS, alongside John from Highland And Islands Blood Bikes, who also collected a donation for their charity.

🏍️ WHO ARE NERVS BLOOD BIKES AND WHAT DO WE ACTUALLY DO? 🚗💛❤️

You’ve probably seen our yellow and red bikes and cars out and about across the North East of Scotland, but have you ever wondered what we do? 🤔

Well, let us explain!

🏍️ We’re NERVS – North East Rider Volunteers Scotland, a team of dedicated volunteers providing a FREE transport service to support the NHS.

Our riders, drivers and controllers give up their own time to help transport urgent medical items between hospitals, laboratories and other healthcare facilities across the region.

📦 So, what might we transport?

🧪 Pathology samples for testing
🍼 Donor breast milk for babies who need it
💊 Urgent medication
🏥 Medical supplies and equipment
🚑 Other essential items needed by healthcare teams

🌙 We often operate out of hours, including evenings and weekends, when other transport options may not be available.

And before you ask… despite the name BLOOD BIKES, we don’t actually deliver blood! 😂

Every mile we travel is made possible by our amazing volunteers and the generosity of the people and businesses who support us. We receive no payment for our deliveries, and our fundraising helps keep our vehicles on the road and our service running.

🚨 NERVS & D&GBB – WORKING TOGETHER ACROSS SCOTLAND! 🏍️❤️

Yesterday, NERVS Blood Bikes received a call from our friends at Dumfries & Galloway Blood Bikes (D&GBB) asking for assistance in transporting a frozen sample to the laboratories at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI).

Of course, we were more than happy to help! 💪
🏍️ Grant from NERVS set off early to meet Scott from D&GBB in Stirling for the handover. From there, the precious package continued its journey to ARI, travelling an incredible 210 miles to reach its destination safely.

Behind the scenes, Ann from D&GBB and Dan from NERVS were in control, supporting their respective drivers throughout the journey and ensuring everything went smoothly.

This is what Blood Bikes are all about — charities working together, volunteers giving up their time, and helping the NHS provide effective patient care across Scotland.

Different groups, one shared mission! 🏍️🤝

It might be Friday, but for our volunteers, the work doesn’t stop just because the weekend is here!

Behind every delivery is a team of dedicated volunteers giving up their own time to support the NHS across the North East of Scotland. From urgent samples and medication to donor breast milk and medical equipment, we’re helping get essential items where they need to be. 🏥📦

We do it all for FREE to the NHS, but keeping our wheels turning costs money, and we rely on donations, fundraising and the generosity of our supporters. ❤️

It’s not every night you’re sitting looking out for your Chinese takeaway when you spot a NERVS colleague delivering in your street instead! 😂

Steve was out and about yesterday delivering across Aberdeen and the Shire, so while someone was waiting for their chow mein, Steve was busy helping keep our deliveries moving! 👏

That’s a LOT of miles, hours and deliveries — all made possible by our fantastic volunteers giving up their time to keep the service running. ❤️

💛❤️ A lovely afternoon with the ladies of Bridge of Don Over 60s Wednesday Club! ❤️💛

A huge thank you to Angus for heading along and giving a talk about NERVS Blood Bikes and the work our amazing volunteers do across the region. 🏍️

It sounds like the ladies were delighted with the talk — and they very kindly gave NERVS a wee donation too. 🥰

But, if we’re being completely honest, the real highlight was the cup of tea ☕️ and a pancake! 🥞😂
