From Lady of Steam to BRIDE...and still making time for Steam! 👰‍♂ 👩‍🔧🔥

A very special congratulations to Lady of Steam Nicole Davidson (Stock) and her husband, Martin!

Bedford Steam Engine Preservation Society Rally holds a pretty special place in their story. It’s where Nicole and Martin first met 14 years ago and where their friendship began. Years later, after reconnecting in 2020 and eventually bringing Nicole from Cornwall to Scotland in 2022.

Steam has been woven through their story the whole way.

In 2023, Nicole and Martin took over the Laigh O’Moray Vintage Association, helping save its charity event during its 25th anniversary year. They have since grown it into a weekend event featuring up to 500 exhibits, continuing to bring people together around vintage machinery and the history they love.

So when they decided to get married, it only made sense that they would say “I do” at the heart of a steam rally. They secretly planned their wedding at the Shuttleworth 70th Steam Rally, choosing not to take away from the event itself, but simply to celebrate their marriage in a place that meant so much to them.

Nicole is also the proud owner of a 4½-inch Foden steam lorry Special, with their Albion lorry joining them for their wedding celebration.

We love stories like Nicole’s because they show that keeping steam history alive isn’t just about the machines. It’s about the people who dedicate their time, energy and passion to preserving them, creating events, sharing the history, and making sure there is a future for this hobby.

Nicole is certainly doing her part, and we’re proud to call her a Lady of Steam.

Congratulations, Nicole and Martin! And what better way to celebrate your honeymoon than with a rally weekend?! 🔥

The Club are deeply saddened by the loss of Long time supporter and friend Jim Craig.

He battled hard against illness and was always in a Cheery mood. He will be sorely missed by many.

Condolences to all family and friends from everyone @ BASEC.

Sadly, after a sair fecht, Jim passed away at home, on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. Dear husband of Barbara (nee Taggart), dearly loved dad of Richard and Colin, father-in-law (or as good as) to Susan. Funeral private. He will be missed by many.

What an excellent weekend supporting D.S.V.C Deeside Steam And Vintage Club.

Great to see everyone and the sun was out all weekend! Never let it be said the chairman doesnt get stuck in!
