Archway

Archway Archway is a parent-led local charity based in Aberdeen providing care and support to children and adults with learning disabilities and their families.

In the 1980's we were the first carer led charity in Aberdeen to champion the provision of respite services and since then have developed into an innovative and exciting charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with learning disabilities. We remain parent led to ensure that those who use our services have a real say in how and what is delivered. Archway currently supports in t

he region of 200 children and adults with learning disabilities through its respite, shared and permanent care services.

Makeover Magic!
We think Paul Simpson and the amazing team from Subsea7 must have a few magicians hidden amongst them! They arrived last Saturday at Westburn Road armed with paintbrushes, tools, energy, and enthusiasm and worked their magic on our tiny staff office. Somehow, they have transformed it into a space that is lighter, brighter, and far more welcoming. According to Service Manager Sarah, it now feels twice the size — although we're still not quite sure how they managed that trick! We are so grateful for their support. A huge thank you to Paul and the Subsea7 team for once again sprinkling a little magic over Archway and making such a difference. The chance to meet mascot Winston, enjoy bacon rolls and a chat afterwards were just the icing on the cake! Roll Up! Roll Up! The Circus Came to Town!
Hayley celebrated her birthday in true circus style at our Huxterstone Supported Living Service. From Hook-a-Duck and Pie Face the Clown to Balloon Catch, Bowling, Darts and Tin Can Toss, there was fun around every corner. They tried their luck at the Lucky Dip, tackled giant Snakes and Ladders, got creative with face painting and temporary tattoos, and explored a wonderful circus-themed sensory tuff tray.
There was plenty of laughter, lots of friendly competition and, of course, no circus celebration would be complete without a selection of delicious circus-themed treats! A big happy birthday to Hayley and thank you to everyone who helped make it such a fun-filled day. Judging by the smiles, the circus was definitely a hit!

Why Do Respite Breaks in Mean So Much?
Fun activities. New experiences. Friendship. Understanding. Care. Laughter. Confidence. Time to be yourself.
And while they're enjoying adventures, families and carers get the opportunity to rest, recharge and spend quality time together. Everyone benefits. The smiles, friendships and experiences tell the story far better than words ever could.
That's why respite matters. That's why it changes lives.

69 KiltWalkers. One Incredible Team.
This year, a record-breaking 69 people have signed up to walk for Archway in the Kiltwalk — our biggest team ever! We would like to say a huge thank you to every single person who has chosen to pull on their walking shoes and take on this challenge on our behalf.
Special thanks go to the fantastic team from Subsea7, our amazing staff members Chelsea, Shona and Tristan from Archway Dyce, Emma and Liene from St Margaret's Place, new supporters Natalie and her Dad, and Archway parents and family members Belinda, Fiona and Marie. We are especially delighted that the team from Archway Dyce will be joined by some of the people we support, taking part in the Wee Wander and proving that Kiltwalk is truly for everyone. There are simply too many wonderful people to mention individually, but please know that every one of you is appreciated. Every mile walked and every pound raised will help create opportunities, experiences and support that make a real difference and we will be cheering you on every step of the way. Good luck everyone — you've already made us proud!

Calling All Gardeners!
Do you have green fingers and a few hours to spare? The garden at our Dyce respite service is in need of a good tidy-up, and we're looking for some willing volunteers to help us get it looking its best. We're holding a gardening Day on Friday 12th June from 10.00am – 4.00pm at Archway Dyce. Whether you can spare an hour or stay for the day, we'd love to see you. Please bring your own gloves and gardening tools - we'll provide plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits and of course, our heartfelt thanks. The people we support love spending time outdoors, and your help they will enjoy it even more. If you are able to help, please contact Michelle on 01224 775232 or email [email protected].
Thank you — we hope to see you there!
