Archway Archway is a parent-led local charity based in Aberdeen providing care and support to children and adults with learning disabilities and their families.

In the 1980's we were the first carer led charity in Aberdeen to champion the provision of respite services and since then have developed into an innovative and exciting charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with learning disabilities. We remain parent led to ensure that those who use our services have a real say in how and what is delivered. Archway currently supports in t

he region of 200 children and adults with learning disabilities through its respite, shared and permanent care services.

MORE MEMORIES FROM DYCE…
Smiles, adventures, fun and friendship – just some more lovely memories being made during respite breaks at Archway Dyce. These moments show just how important respite really is. For the children and adults who come to Archway, it’s a chance to spend time with friends, enjoy new experiences, have fun and build confidence and independence. For parents, carers, brothers and sisters, respite provides something equally precious – time to rest, recharge, spend time together and simply take a break from caring responsibilities, knowing their loved one is safe, happy and enjoying themselves. That’s why respite matters. It isn’t simply a break. It supports the wellbeing of an entire family – while creating some very special memories along the way.

A Lovely Act Of Kindness
We love being able to share those lovely acts of kindness that bring so much joy to the people we support. Our heartfelt thanks to Barry Duncan from CNR, who recently offered Archway his tickets for the Aberdeen v Hearts game as he was celebrating a very special occasion – his mum and dad’s 62nd Wedding Anniversary. Carolyn from Westburn Road was the very lucky recipient, and to say she enjoyed herself would be an understatement! She had a fantastic time cheering on the Dons – and we think she may just have brought them a little extra luck too, as Aberdeen won! Barry, we hope your mum and dad had a wonderful anniversary. Thank you for thinking of Archway and, most of all, for your kindness. You gave Carolyn a day to remember – and that means more than you know.

Sunshine and Flowers
The ladies at our Anest House Supported Living Service made the most of the nice weather recently to plant up the raised beds in the garden. They did a great job. Now they can just relax and watch the flowers grow. I wonder what their next project is going to be?
