Our ILB crew made a very important shore trip yesterday to pick up ice cream for the whole team.

A huge thank you to Inversnecky Cafe for your kindness in giving us the ice creams on the house, it was hugely appreciated! ๐Ÿ’›

SHOUT ๐Ÿ“Ÿ

On Friday morning at 9:44am, Aberdeen RNLI was tasked by HM Coastguard to assist a pleasure craft approximately 70 nautical miles northeast of Peterhead. The vessel had set out from Fraserburgh the previous morning and was taking on water en route across the North Sea.

At 10:27am the crew informed HM Coastguard that they were abandoning ship and transferred to a liferaft. Rescue Helicopter 851 from Inverness reached the scene and successfully recovered all four crew members. Lifeboats from Peterhead RNLI and Fraserburgh RNLI were also part of the response.

With over 90 miles to run, Aberdeen's ALB was stood down en route once all crew were confirmed safe. We returned to berth and made ready for service.

A great outcome thanks to a well-coordinated response across multiple agencies. Incidents like this are a reminder of why regular multi-agency training is so important.

from Monday night training 27/04/26 ๐ŸŒŠ

The ALB crew put the harbour to good use this week, working through mooring, berthing and salvage pump drills before heading out to sea for navigation training.

Over on the ILB, two of our newest crew members were thrown straight into the deep end with an exercise on emergency procedures; firefighting, man overboard recovery, loss of machinery and abandoning ship.

Every training session brings our crews one step closer to being ready for whatever the sea throws at us. ๐ŸŒŠ

We are absolutely blown away by the generosity shown by the people of Aberdeen at the recent Titanic Exhibition!

Over two weeks, our fundraising volunteers manned a stall at P&J Live, selling raffle tickets, RNLI merchandise and collecting donations.

We raised an incredible ยฃ9,500! ๐ŸŽ‰

Our mascot Stormy was also on hand throughout, proving a big hit with visitors and he even got to meet Dik Barton, the first British man to dive to the Titanic, who has now made an incredible 22 dives to the wreck!

As a charity, we rely entirely on the generosity of the public to keep our crews on the water and saving lives. This money will go directly towards doing just that.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by the stand. Thank you also to White Star Heritage for welcoming us into such a special event, to the brilliant team at P&J Live for their support and to our incredible volunteers who gave up their time.

Thank you. ๐Ÿ’›

SHOUT!

On Easter Sunday, both lifeboats were tasked to launch after a kitesurfer reported a kite drifting out to sea to HM Coastguard, raising concerns that a person may be in difficulty in the water.

Aberdeenโ€™s all-weather lifeboat (ALB) Bon Accord and inshore lifeboat (ILB) The Buoy Woody launched just before midday in strong westerly offshore winds. The ILB crew successfully recovered the kite, and while the search was ongoing, HM Coastguard was able to confirm that its owner had made it safely ashore.

With no persons in the water and the owner of the kite accounted for, both lifeboats were stood down and returned to station.

Coxswain Grant Bruce has urged anyone who loses water sports equipment or inflatables to contact HM Coastguard immediately by calling 999 or 112, and to always carry a means of calling for help such as a personal locator beacon (PLB) when heading out on the water.

Heading off into Easter weekend like ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿšค ๐ŸŒŠ

As always, our volunteer crew are on call 24/7, 365 days a year.

If you are visiting the coast this weekend remember:
- If you get into difficulty in the water,
- In a coastal emergency, call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard

Are you planning a visit to the fantastic Titanic Exhibition at P&J Live? ๐Ÿšข If so, keep your eyes peeled for us!

Come and meet the RNLI volunteers, browse our charity pop-up shop, and support us with a donation if you can. Every penny helps us keep our crews on the water and our lifeboat ready to launch.

We're here until Sunday 12th April, so there's plenty of time to swing by. A huge thank you to White Star Heritage for having us along.

What a fitting place to be reminded why saving lives at sea matters so much. โš“

Water safety visit! ๐ŸŒŠ

Our Water Safety Officer, Colin Sellar, had a brilliant time visiting the Cubs in Inverurie recently.

Colin shared important water safety advice focused on local rivers, the River Don and River Ury.

The Cubs learned four key safety messages:
๐Ÿ”ธStop and think
๐Ÿ”ธStay together
๐Ÿ”ธFloat to live
๐Ÿ”ธCall 999 or 112 in an emergency

It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm and engagement from the group. We look forward to hosting the Cubs at the Aberdeen station after the Easter holidays, where theyโ€™ll get a behind-the-scenes look at what we do and continue working towards their Personal Safety Badges. ๐Ÿ‘
