Inchnadamph Commemoration Service
On Saturday 18th April Flt Lt Smith, Fg Off Breen, Sgt Morrice and Cpl Adam travelled north to Inchnadamph for the commemoration to mark the 85th anniversary of the loss of Avro Anson N9857.
On the 13th April 1941 during a training mission the aircraft crashed into Ben More Assynt due to a snow storm.
In 1985 cadets and staff from 2489 squadron refurbished the cairn memorial which was originally placed at the crash site. This was refurbished into a granite memorial in 2013 and is the highest war grave in the UK where those who died are buried at the site.
It was a great opportunity to come together with other organisations and remember the 6 aircrew members who perished with the aircraft in 1941.
We Will Remember Them.
