We have joined The Library Project network! 📚

The Library Project works with rural and underserved schools, community centers, and local nonprofit organizations around the world to ensure children have the books, literacy support, and learning environments they need to become confident readers 👧🏻👦🏽📖

educate.’s library network currently spans 14 rural communities, reaching 2,500 children and young people each year with access to books and safe, creative learning spaces. For children in rural villages, these libraries are often the first time they have access to books! What’s more, each one is led by a local committee of teachers, parents and students, and is integrated into the school schedule so every child has guaranteed library time.

We are excited to be joining The Library Project network to continue expanding this work, getting more books into the hands of children in rural Honduras 🇭🇳✨

¡Nos hemos unido a la red de The Library Project! 📚

The Library Project trabaja con escuelas rurales, centros comunitarios y organizaciones locales en distintas partes del mundo para que niños y niñas tengan acceso a libros, apoyo, y espacios de aprendizaje que les permitan desarrollar el amor y la confianza por la lectura 👧🏽👦🏻📖

Actualmente, la red de bibliotecas de educate. está presente en 14 comunidades rurales, donde cada año 2,500 niños, niñas y jóvenes tienen acceso a libros y a espacios seguros y creativos para aprender. Para muchos niños y niñas de las comunidades rurales, estas bibliotecas son el primer lugar donde tienen la oportunidad de tener libros a su alcance! Además, cada biblioteca es gestionada por un comité local integrado por docentes, madres, padres y estudiantes, y forma parte del horario escolar para que todos los niños y niñas tengan un tiempo destinado a la biblioteca.

Nos alegra mucho formar parte de la red de The Library Project y seguir fortaleciendo y ampliando este trabajo, para que cada vez más niños y niñas de las comunidades rurales de Honduras tengan un libro en sus manos 🇭🇳✨

This new space will provide free virtual psychological support, helping make mental health care more accessible to the young people who need it.

This weekend, we inaugurated our new Therapy and Mental Health Room at educate.’s Youth Center 💙🧠✨

For young people in rural Honduras, access to professional mental health support can be incredibly difficult. Distance, cost and a lack of local services can make therapy feel out of reach - on top of the prevailing stigmas that continue to exist around mental healthcare. Through virtual counselling, this new room will help us bring free professional support closer to young people who need it.

The room also has a very special story, as it is named in honour of educate.’s very first scholarship student, Stephanie Chevez, who passed away in 2022. Stephanie was part of the very beginning of educate.’s story, and her memory remains part of who we are as an organization. This room is a way of honouring her while creating a space where other young people can access the support they need – because no young person should have to face difficult moments without someone there to help.

This space was made possible thanks to our partnership with Wilde Ganzen, and with support from the local municipality. We hope the Stephanie Chevez Therapy and Mental Health Room will become a place of care, connection and support for many young people in the years ahead 💛

Este fin de semana inauguramos nuestra nueva Sala de Terapia y Salud Mental en el Centro Juvenil de educate. 💙🧠✨

Para las y los jóvenes de las zonas rurales de Honduras, acceder a apoyo profesional en salud mental puede ser muy difícil. La distancia, el costo y la falta de servicios locales pueden hacer que la terapia parezca inalcanzable, además de los estigmas que aún existen alrededor de la salud mental. A través de la atención psicológica virtual, esta nueva sala nos permitirá acercar apoyo profesional gratuito a las y los jóvenes que lo necesitan.

También quisimos darle a la sala un significado muy especial, nombrándola en honor a Stephanie Chevez, la primera joven becada de educate., quien falleció en 2022. Stephanie fue parte de los primeros pasos de la historia de educate., y su memoria sigue siendo parte de quienes somos como organización. Esta sala es una manera de honrar su memoria, mientras creamos un espacio donde otros jóvenes puedan acceder al apoyo que necesitan — porque ningún joven debería tener que enfrentar momentos difíciles sin alguien que pueda acompañarlo.

Este espacio fue posible gracias a nuestra alianza con Wilde Ganzen y al apoyo de la municipalidad. Esperamos que la Sala de Terapia y Salud Mental Stephanie Chevez se convierta en un espacio de cuidado, conexión y apoyo para muchos jóvenes en los años que vienen 💛

Youth facilitators are taking the lead in sexuality education ✊🏼 ✨

At our Youth Center, girls come together for activities on self-care, menstrual health, healthy relationships, pregnancy prevention and gender justice.

But they’re not just participants — they’re leading these spaces too! Having strengthened their leadership skills throughout their time at educate., girls and young women from our scholarship programme have now built the skills to serve as facilitators within these spaces.

Recently, one of these workshops included sharing menstrual health kits - so that no girl has to miss school because of her period.

We are excited to continue creating spaces where girls and young women can take the lead in building healthier, more equitable communities and relationships 💜

¡Las jóvenes facilitadoras están tomando el liderazgo en la educación sexual! ✊🏼✨

En nuestro Centro Juvenil, las niñas y jóvenes participan en actividades sobre autocuidado, salud menstrual, relaciones saludables, prevención del embarazo y justicia de género.

Pero no son solo participantes: ¡también están liderando estos espacios! A lo largo de su participación en educate., han fortalecido sus habilidades de liderazgo y ahora varias jóvenes de nuestro programa de becas cuentan con las herramientas y la confianza necesarias para desempeñarse como facilitadoras en estos espacios.

Recientemente, uno de estos talleres incluyó la entrega de kits de salud menstrual, para que ninguna niña tenga que faltar a la escuela por tener su periodo.

Nos entusiasma seguir creando espacios donde las niñas y jóvenes puedan tomar el liderazgo y contribuir a construir comunidades y relaciones más saludables y equitativas 💜

Putting technology in motion! 🏎️✨

Young people in our Technology with Purpose programme have been getting creative with STEM, designing their own racing cars using Tinkercad and creating unique logos in Canva.

Their cars were 3D printed and sent to Honduras, where they assembled, painted and personalised them before race day! 🏎️💨

For young people in rural communities, projects like this create opportunities to learn by doing, experiment with technology, and turn their own ideas into reality 🙌🏼

A huge thank you to Maria for sharing her time, knowledge and expertise to make this possible!

We’re so proud of our young people and can’t wait to see where their curiosity takes them next 🚀

¡Poniendo la tecnología en movimiento! 🏎️✨

Las y los jóvenes de nuestro programa Tecnología con Propósito han estado explorando su creatividad y aprendiendo sobre STEM, diseñando sus propios carros de carrera con TinkerCad y creando logotipos únicos en Canva.

Sus carros fueron impresos en 3D y enviados a Honduras, donde los ensamblaron, pintaron y personalizaron antes del día de carreras 🏎️💨

Para jóvenes de comunidades rurales, proyectos como este crean oportunidades para aprender haciendo, experimentar con la tecnología y convertir sus propias ideas en realidad 🙌🏼

¡Muchísimas gracias a Maria por compartir su tiempo, conocimiento y experiencia para hacer posible esta experiencia!

📖 Our 2025 Annual Report is here!

2025 was a year of learning, growth and, above all, working alongside children and young people in Honduras to create opportunities for them to learn, lead and shape their communities.

Here are just a few highlights from the year:
📚 4 new community libraries inaugurated in rural villages, creating spaces for children and young people to read, learn and connect.
🎓 47 scholarships awarded to rural young people, supporting them to continue their education in high school and university.
🎓 6 first-generation graduates celebrated, as young people became the first in their families to graduate from secondary education.
⚽ From football and STEM to arts and youth journalism, our programmes continued to create spaces where young people can develop skills, express themselves and grow as leaders.

¡Enormes felicitaciones a la joven Yenssy Alejandra, quien ha sido otorgada una beca para finalizar sus estudios de secundaria en UWC Maastricht!

🌎 Los Colegios del Mundo Unido (UWC) son una red de colegios alrededor del mundo que utilizan la educación para unir a personas, naciones y culturas en favor de la paz y un futuro sostenible. Cada año, UWC selecciona a jóvenes de todo el mundo para formar parte de su programa global de becas.

Alejandra actualmente cursa el 11.º grado en el CEM G JUAN LINDO, y es una usuaria activa del Centro Juvenil y Biblioteca de educate. Hace ocho años, también fue parte de la creación de la primera biblioteca escolar de educate. en la Escuela Guadalupe Ulloa! 📖

From Trinidad, Honduras to Maastricht, the Netherlands! 🇭🇳➡️🇳🇱

Please join us in giving a huge congratulations to high school student Yenssy Alejandra, who has been awarded a full scholarship to complete her high school education at UWC Maastricht! 🎓✨

🌎 The United World Colleges (UWC) are a network of schools around the world using education to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. Every year, UWC selects young people from across the world to join its global scholarship programme.

Alejandra is currently in 11th grade at the Juan Lindo Institute in Trinidad, Santa Bárbara, and is a regular at educate.’s Youth Center and Public Library. Eight years ago, she was also part of the founding of educate.’s very first primary school library! 📖

We are so proud to see her spreading her wings with this incredible next step! Congratulations, Alejandra, we can’t wait to see where this journey takes you 💙✨

We’ve had a very special guest at the Youth Center this week!

Lisa van Holsteijn spent a year volunteering in Trinidad as an English teacher with Project Trust in 2014-15, and co-founded educate. together with Antonia McGrath in 2017. She stepped back from the organization in 2020, so this was her very first time visiting our Youth Center! 🙌🏼 It was an incredible moment of connection and celebration for her and our team.

While in Trinidad, Lisa and her partner Florian led a mandala making workshop with the youth in our EducArte programme, spent time with our team, and got to know many of the students and young leaders from our community.

Thank you Lisa and Florian for visiting! It was wonderful to have you 💚

¡Esta semana hemos tenido una persona muy especial de visita en el Centro Juvenil!

Lisa van Holsteijn pasó un año como voluntaria de en Trinidad entre 2014 y 2015, impartiendo clases de inglés en escuelas públicas, y cofundó educate. junto con Antonia McGrath en 2017. Se retiró de la organización en 2020, así que esta fue su primera visita a nuestro Centro Juvenil! 🙌🏼 Fue un momento increíble de conexión y celebración para ella y nuestro equipo.

Durante su estancia en Trinidad, Lisa y su pareja, Florian, dirigieron un taller de creación de mandalas con las y los jóvenes de nuestro programa EducArte, compartieron tiempo con nuestro equipo, y conocieron a muchas y muchos de las y los estudiantes y jóvenes líderes de nuestra comunidad.

🏆🎨 EducArte recognized in first place at the 2026 Youth Social Art Awards! 🎨🏆

We’re incredibly proud to share that our EducArte programme has been awarded the Gold Award in the 2026 Youth Social Art Awards! 🌟

The award recognizes a 21-metre youth-led mural created by young people in Trinidad, Santa Bárbara, exploring young people’s roles as peacebuilders and leaders of gender and climate justice.

For the young artists of EducArte, art is more than just a hobby – it is a way to express their emotions and experiences, share their ideas, and imagine the kind of communities they want to build 💙

As young artist and EducArte leader Marely Cristel says: “To me, this artwork transmits the values, identity and hope that we find in our community.”

Thank you to the Alliance for Youth-Led Futures for recognizing this collective public art piece and the power of young people to drive social change through the arts. Most importantly, with this award ww celebrate the creativity and leadership of the young people who create this incredible artwork ✨

El premio reconoce un mural de 21 metros, creado y liderado por jóvenes de Trinidad, Santa Bárbara, que explora el papel de las y los jóvenes como constructores de paz y líderes por la justicia de género y climática.

Para las y los jóvenes artistas de EducArte, el arte es mucho más que un pasatiempo: es una forma de expresar sus emociones y experiencias, compartir sus ideas e imaginar el tipo de comunidades que quieren construir 💙
