¡Enormes felicitaciones a la joven Yenssy Alejandra, quien ha sido otorgada una beca para finalizar sus estudios de secundaria en UWC Maastricht!

🌎 Los Colegios del Mundo Unido (UWC) son una red de colegios alrededor del mundo que utilizan la educación para unir a personas, naciones y culturas en favor de la paz y un futuro sostenible. Cada año, UWC selecciona a jóvenes de todo el mundo para formar parte de su programa global de becas.

Alejandra actualmente cursa el 11.º grado en el CEM G JUAN LINDO, y es una usuaria activa del Centro Juvenil y Biblioteca de educate. Hace ocho años, también fue parte de la creación de la primera biblioteca escolar de educate. en la Escuela Guadalupe Ulloa! 📖

From Trinidad, Honduras to Maastricht, the Netherlands! 🇭🇳➡️🇳🇱

Please join us in giving a huge congratulations to high school student Yenssy Alejandra, who has been awarded a full scholarship to complete her high school education at UWC Maastricht! 🎓✨

🌎 The United World Colleges (UWC) are a network of schools around the world using education to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. Every year, UWC selects young people from across the world to join its global scholarship programme.

Alejandra is currently in 11th grade at the Juan Lindo Institute in Trinidad, Santa Bárbara, and is a regular at educate.’s Youth Center and Public Library. Eight years ago, she was also part of the founding of educate.’s very first primary school library! 📖

We are so proud to see her spreading her wings with this incredible next step! Congratulations, Alejandra, we can’t wait to see where this journey takes you 💙✨

We’ve had a very special guest at the Youth Center this week!

Lisa van Holsteijn spent a year volunteering in Trinidad as an English teacher with Project Trust in 2014-15, and co-founded educate. together with Antonia McGrath in 2017. She stepped back from the organization in 2020, so this was her very first time visiting our Youth Center! 🙌🏼 It was an incredible moment of connection and celebration for her and our team.

While in Trinidad, Lisa and her partner Florian led a mandala making workshop with the youth in our EducArte programme, spent time with our team, and got to know many of the students and young leaders from our community.

Thank you Lisa and Florian for visiting! It was wonderful to have you 💚

¡Esta semana hemos tenido una persona muy especial de visita en el Centro Juvenil!

Lisa van Holsteijn pasó un año como voluntaria de en Trinidad entre 2014 y 2015, impartiendo clases de inglés en escuelas públicas, y cofundó educate. junto con Antonia McGrath en 2017. Se retiró de la organización en 2020, así que esta fue su primera visita a nuestro Centro Juvenil! 🙌🏼 Fue un momento increíble de conexión y celebración para ella y nuestro equipo.

Durante su estancia en Trinidad, Lisa y su pareja, Florian, dirigieron un taller de creación de mandalas con las y los jóvenes de nuestro programa EducArte, compartieron tiempo con nuestro equipo, y conocieron a muchas y muchos de las y los estudiantes y jóvenes líderes de nuestra comunidad.

🏆🎨 EducArte recognized in first place at the 2026 Youth Social Art Awards! 🎨🏆

We’re incredibly proud to share that our EducArte programme has been awarded the Gold Award in the 2026 Youth Social Art Awards! 🌟

The award recognizes a 21-metre youth-led mural created by young people in Trinidad, Santa Bárbara, exploring young people’s roles as peacebuilders and leaders of gender and climate justice.

For the young artists of EducArte, art is more than just a hobby – it is a way to express their emotions and experiences, share their ideas, and imagine the kind of communities they want to build 💙

As young artist and EducArte leader Marely Cristel says: “To me, this artwork transmits the values, identity and hope that we find in our community.”

Thank you to the Alliance for Youth-Led Futures for recognizing this collective public art piece and the power of young people to drive social change through the arts. El premio reconoce un mural de 21 metros, creado y liderado por jóvenes de Trinidad, Santa Bárbara, que explora el papel de las y los jóvenes como constructores de paz y líderes por la justicia de género y climática.

Para las y los jóvenes artistas de EducArte, el arte es mucho más que un pasatiempo: es una forma de expresar sus emociones y experiencias, compartir sus ideas e imaginar el tipo de comunidades que quieren construir 💙

Getting ready for the world of work 💻✨

For many young people, starting a work experience placement is an exciting first step into the world of work. But for some, it also means using a computer for the very first time.

Recently, 42 young people in their final year of school took part in a digital skills training at our Youth Center, led by young leaders from our Tecnología con Propósito programme. Together, they learned the basics of using a computer, Microsoft Office, printing documents and other practical skills they’ll need during their upcoming work experience placements.

While these may seem like simple skills, having the confidence to use technology can make a big difference when taking those first steps towards employment! 🩵

Preparándose para el mundo laboral 💻✨

Para muchos jóvenes, comenzar una pasantía es un emocionante primer paso hacia el mundo laboral. Pero para algunos, también significa utilizar una computadora por primera vez.

Recientemente, 42 jóvenes de último año de secundaria participaron en una capacitación sobre habilidades digitales en nuestro Centro Juvenil, liderada por jóvenes de nuestro programa Tecnología con Propósito. Juntos y juntas, aprendieron los conceptos básicos para utilizar una computadora, Microsoft Office, imprimir documentos y otras habilidades prácticas que necesitarán durante sus próximas pasantías.

Pueden parecer habilidades sencillas, pero tener la confianza para utilizar la tecnología puede marcar una gran diferencia al dar los primeros pasos hacia el mundo laboral 🩵

⚽🕊️ Let’s Play for Peace – Second Edition!

Today, 10 schools from the municipality of Trinidad came together to kick off our second annual Inter-School Football Tournament, a space for girls and boys from rural communities to connect, practice positive sportsmanship, and build peace through sport 💙

We kicked off the tournament with a joyful parade through the streets of Trinidad, carrying messages of unity, hope and inclusion to our community 🕊️

A huge thank you to the UEFA Foundation for Children for making this tournament possible, and to the Municipality of Trinidad and AMACUDE for joining us in creating opportunities for children and young people to play, learn and grow together 🫱🏻‍🫲🏽⚽

And this is just the beginning! 🥳 Matches continue every Tuesday and Friday at the Las Américas Pitch. Come along and be part of the celebration, where every match reminds us that peace is also built through play 🏟️

⚽🕊️ ¡Juguemos por la Paz – Segunda Edición!

Hoy, 10 escuelas del municipio de Trinidad se reunieron para dar inicio a nuestro segundo Torneo Interescolar de Fútbol, un espacio para que niñas y niños de comunidades rurales puedan conectar, practicar la deportividad positiva, y construir comunidades más pacificas a través del deporte 💙

Iniciamos el torneo con un alegre desfile por las calles de Trinidad, llevando a nuestra comunidad mensajes de unidad, esperanza e inclusión 🕊️

Un enorme agradecimiento a la UEFA Foundation for Children por hacer posible este torneo, y a la Municipalidad de Trinidad, Santa Bárbara y Academia AMACUDE por sumarse a esta iniciativa para crear oportunidades para que niñas, niños y jóvenes jueguen, aprendan y crezcan juntos 🫱🏻‍🫲🏽⚽

¡Y esto es solo el comienzo! 🥳 Los partidos continúan todos los martes y viernes en el Estadio Las Américas. Acompáñanos y sé parte de esta celebración deportiva, donde cada partido nos recuerda que la paz también se construye jugando 🏟️

📚✨ Our mobile library brings books to rural schools!

As part of our project with , this week we brought our mobile library to two primary schools in Trinidad, sharing new books and meaningful learning experiences that sparked childrens’ imaginations 💙

During these visits, we organized creative activities such as creating stories from images, drawing favorite characters from the books we read together, writing illustrated summaries to share with classmates, and other playful activities that inspired a love of reading.

It was wonderful to see the joy, curiosity, and excitement of every child as they discovered new books, explored their pages, and let their imaginations soar.

Once again, we’re reminded that when reading is filled with play and discovery, learning truly comes to life 📖💫

📚✨ ¡Nuestra biblioteca móvil llega a escuelas rurales!

En el marco del proyecto con , viajamos con nuestra biblioteca móvil a dos escuelas primarias de Trinidad, llevando nuevos libros y experiencias que despertaron la imaginación de las niñas y los niños 💙

Durante estas jornadas realizamos actividades creativas como la elaboración de cuentos a partir de imágenes, el dibujo de personajes favoritos de las historias que leímos y la creación de resúmenes ilustrados para compartir entre pares, además de otras dinámicas que fomentaron el amor por la lectura.

Fue maravilloso ver la alegría, la curiosidad y el entusiasmo de cada niño y niña al descubrir nuevos libros, explorar sus páginas y dejar volar sus imaginaciones.

Una vez más, comprobamos que cuando la lectura se vive a través del juego y el descubrimiento, el aprendizaje realmente cobra vida 📖💫

⚽💙 We’re continuing to create spaces for sport, joy, and leadership in more rural communities!

Through our UniDeportes sports programme, we recently hosted two community sports events in the villages of La Huerta and La Zona, rural communities in the municipality of Trinidad, Honduras 🇭🇳

More than 150 girls and boys took part in days filled with games, learning, teamwork, and positive community engagement. These activities also encouraged the active participation of girls in football, promoting equal opportunities and access to sport for everyone ⚽️🏃🏽‍♀️

These experiences also gave our rural youth leaders the opportunity to put into practice the skills they have developed in leadership, teamwork, and group facilitation, reaffirming their commitment to being agents of change within their own communities 👏🏽

We are deeply grateful to UEFA Foundation for Children for believing in the potential of rural youth and for supporting initiatives that strengthen youth leadership, promote gender equality, and contribute to the holistic development of children in rural communities.

⚽💙 ¡Seguimos creando espacios de alegría, deporte y liderazgo en más comunidades rurales!

A través de nuestro programa UniDeportes, realizamos con éxito dos eventos comunitarios deportivos en las aldeas de La Huerta y La Zona, comunidades rurales del municipio de Trinidad, Honduras 🇭🇳

Más de 150 niñas y niños disfrutaron de actividades llenas de juegos, aprendizaje y sana convivencia. Estas jornadas también promovieron la participación activa de las niñas en el fútbol, fomentando la igualdad de oportunidades y el acceso al deporte para todas y todos ⚽️🏃🏽‍♀️

Además, estas experiencias brindaron a nuestros jóvenes líderes rurales la oportunidad de poner en práctica las habilidades que han fortalecido en liderazgo, trabajo en equipo y manejo de grupos, reafirmando su compromiso como agentes de cambio dentro de sus propias comunidades 👏🏽

Agradecemos profundamente a UEFA Foundation for Children por creer en el potencial de la juventud rural y por impulsar iniciativas que fortalecen el liderazgo juvenil, promueven la equidad de género, y contribuyen al desarrollo integral de la niñez en las comunidades rurales.

Reliable information about sexual and reproductive health and rights is a powerful tool for prevention, empowerment, and informed decision-making 👏🏼

We recently held an awareness-raising session on comprehensive sexuality education and preventing unwanted pregnancies. Together, girls reflected on the importance of self-care, respect, healthy relationships, responsible decision-making, and access to evidence-based information.

We also explored the emergency contraceptive pill, creating a safe space to clarify doubts and debunk common myths. Participants learned what it is, how it works, when it can be used, and why it is intended specifically for emergency situations.

Through participatory activities and discussions, young women strengthened their knowledge, built confidence to make informed choices, and reinforced their ability to exercisetheir sexual and reproductive health and rights responsibly.

For rural girls in Honduras, access to accurate information can ensure the doors to greater choice and opportunity remain open for them, allowing them to shape the lives they want for themselves 💜

La información confiable sobre la salud y los derechos sexuales y reproductivos es una herramienta poderosa para la prevención, el empoderamiento y la toma de decisiones informadas 👏🏼

Recientemente realizamos una sesión de sensibilización sobre educación sexual integral y la prevención de embarazos no deseados. Juntas, las participantes reflexionaron sobre la importancia del autocuidado, el respeto, las relaciones saludables, la toma de decisiones responsables y el acceso a información basada en evidencia.

También abordamos la Pastilla Anticonceptiva de Emergencia (PAE), creando un espacio seguro para aclarar dudas y derribar mitos. Las participantes aprendieron qué es, cómo funciona, cuándo puede utilizarse y por qué está destinada únicamente para situaciones de emergencia.

A través de actividades participativas y espacios de reflexión, las jóvenes fortalecieron sus conocimientos, ganaron confianza para tomar decisiones informadas y reforzaron su capacidad para ejercer sus derechos sexuales y reproductivos de manera responsable.

Para las niñas de zonas rurales de Honduras, el acceso a información precisa sobre estos temas puede garantizar que las puertas a una mayor libertad de elección y oportunidades permanezcan abiertas para ellas, permitiéndoles forjar las vidas que desean para sí mismas 💜
