Just back from the Aberdeen Hindu temple in Bankhead, they hosted an open day I was invited to, still reeling!
I only went for a look and realised within first 5 mins I was their honoured guest. Got a tour of the great work they have been doing installing heat pumps and solar panels to become self sufficient and sustainable and hear about details of further work they are still to do.
Watched an amazing full Bollywood style show with great dancing performances from each Indian regions. Invited to give off cuff speech. Presented with sari scarf and figure of Lord Ganesh. Then lunch which was a delish paneer curry, rice, chapati and yoghurt dressing.
Never been made to feel more welcome or had so many want to talk to me. Friendly, happy people. Great bunch of volunteers doing amazing work. I wasn't much use to them in the "Holi" quiz team though.
The temple is a great community space for all.
So glad I went and thanks to Amol and all , it was amazing and it builds even more ties with Brighter Bucksburn and the community. We originally supplied their planters which they are talking good care of and they have now created their own garden at the site. I might even join the yoga or meditation classes they have too.X β€οΈ
