Archie at Aberdeen Neonatal Unit

Archie at Aberdeen Neonatal Unit We are the official charity of the Neonatal Unit at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital, supporting babies born too sick or too soon.

All of the money that is donated and fundraised for Archie at The Neonatal unit goes back into the Unit. We have helped provide enhanced medical equipment, pediatric training & research, and family support for the parents and carers whose babies are in the unit.

From hospital patient to Kiltwalk fundraiser 💙

Last year, Olivia broke her leg at school and needed emergency surgery at RACH. After receiving incredible care from the teams involved in her treatment, she wanted to give something back and help other children and families facing a hospital stay.

So, Olivia laced up her walking shoes and took on the Kiltwalk for The Archie Foundation! 🎉

Joining her on the Wee Wander were her mum, granny, Auntie Wendy, cousins Lucy, Katie and Emily, and best friend Orla. Her big sister Emma also got involved, taking on the 18-mile Mighty Stride. 👏

A huge thank you to Olivia and her family for their support – we're so grateful you chose to walk for Archie. 💙

Thinking about taking on a challenge for Archie yourself? There's still time to sign up for the Dundee Kiltwalk in August or the Edinburgh Kiltwalk in September. We'd love to have you on !

🌟A huge thank you and well done to Freya and Olivia!🌟

These lovely friends spent the last few weeks making loom band bracelets and paper squishies to sell at their school fayre.

Thanks to all their hard work and creativity, they raised an amazing £100 for Archie✨

To make this achievement even more special, their school recognised their fantastic efforts by awarding them some very well-deserved house points!

Thank you again, girls, you should be so proud of yourselves! It is truly inspiring to see young people making such a difference to help babies, children and families across the North East💙

Our Regional Fundraising Officer, Nathan, had a fantastic time yesterday visiting the Cairnorrie Scottish Women's Institute in Methlick🌟

Nathan delivered a talk on the history of The Archie Foundation and shared information about the many initiatives and services we provide to support babies, children and families across the North of Scotland.

The group were some welcoming and as you can see particularly taken with the knitting he brought along, especially the worry chicken!🧶

The night also featured some truly fantastic competitions, including Best Grown Flower, Best Baked Cheesecake, and Best Elderflower Cordial. Nathan was delighted to be invited to judge these entries and was incredibly impressed by the talent on display.

A huge thank you to everyone at Aberdeenshire Federation SWI for the warm welcome and for giving us the opportunity to share more about The Archie Foundation and the support we provide throughout our communities💙

We are incredibly grateful to the amazing people who choose to fundraise for The Archie Foundation in their own unique ways.

Recently, Emma organised a fantastic Zumbathon, bringing together a room full of energy, enthusiasm and generosity to raise funds for both The Archie Foundation and Andy's Man Club.

Reflecting on the day, Emma said:

"The day went very well, everyone was full of energy and everyone was very generous, raising £850 between the two charities."

What an incredible achievement! 👏

Whether it's a Zumbathon, a bake sale, a sponsored challenge or something completely different, every fundraiser helps us continue supporting local babies, children and families when they need it most.

Thank you, Emma, and thank you to everyone who took part and donated. Together, you're making a real difference. 💙

Rounding off our Staff Kiltwalk Spotlight series is Reti, our Senior Fundraising Officer, who will be taking on the Dundee Kiltwalk this August alongside her family to raise funds for The Archie Foundation 💙

"I simply can't wait to walk together with my family and meet people who are all taking on Kiltwalk for their own personal reasons and the meaning behind them." As both a fundraiser and a volunteer, she sees first-hand the difference our supporters make to families facing some of life's toughest moments. This year's walk is especially meaningful, as she and her family will be raising funds for the Aberdeen Neonatal Unit.

"Kiltwalk is incredible for raising awareness of so many amazing charities, but it's also about bringing thousands of people together with one common goal: supporting others. I also love how inclusive it is and that I can take part with my children."

Thinking about joining Team Archie for Dundee Kiltwalk? There is still time to sign up and help make a difference for local babies, children and families.

This year, an incredible 219 Archie supporters took to the starting lines of the Mighty Stride and Wee Wander at the Aberdeen Kiltwalk, and we couldn't be prouder.

Every single step walked, every mile completed, and every pound raised is helping us continue to support the babies, children and families when they need us most. To everyone who signed up, fundraised, volunteered, cheered from the sidelines or supported our walkers – thank you. You are making a real difference, and we are so, so proud to have you as part of Team Archie. 💙

But the Kiltwalk season isn't over yet… we are only halfway through! 🎉 There is still time to join us at the Dundee Kiltwalk this August or the Edinburgh Kiltwalk in September.

Help us build a multilingual baby book library for the Aberdeen Neonatal Unit 💙

We are looking for donations of new or gently loved children's books that are suitable for reading to babies and are written in languages other than English.

For many families with a baby receiving care in the neonatal unit, hearing a parent's voice reading a story can be incredibly comforting and helps support bonding during a difficult time. We'd love to be able to offer books that reflect the many languages and cultures of the families cared for in the neonatal unit.

If you have any baby friendly books in languages such as Polish, Romanian, Arabic, Ukrainian, Mandarin, Urdu, Gaelic, or any other language, we would be so grateful for your support.

✨ We are looking for:

New or gently used books
Suitable for babies and young children
Written in languages other than English
Clean and in good condition

Every donated book will help create precious moments of connection between babies and their families. ❤️
