Infant crying is normal and it will stop. You and your partner/close support may feel like it will not and may feel at breaking point. There is support available to you via your health professionals and via the ICON webpage: www.iconcope.org

Sometimes babies cry for no reason and crying can escalate from around 2 weeks and start to calm down after a few months. They are not doing this deliberately. They are crying as it is the only way they can communicate.

CRY-SIS National Help Line: 08451 228669. Lines open 7 days a week, 9am-10pm. Remember - if you are concerned that your baby may be unwell, contact your GP or NHS 24 (go to www.nhs24.scot or call 111 - the service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week). In an emergency, ring 999.

Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to participate in our recent survey about social media during pregnancy and the postpartum period.

Your feedback was so helpful. We are sharing it at our Grampian Maternity Voices Partnership meeting tomorrow and we will also be sharing more here soon too.

It was no surprise that social media can be both a friend and a foe during pregnancy and the postpartum period. You gave us a lot of wonderful suggestions for how to help, and we will be discussing these tomorrow also.

Thank you!

p.s. we will be sharing more soon about how you can volunteer with us! We are in real need of more volunteers to help us gather feedback and work in partnership with the NHS to help improve service delivery. Email us if you can't wait to hear more or watch this space to find out more details.

Can you donate breast milk? See details below

Our stock of milk is lower than we would like. If you have a baby under 2 and are in a non smoking household, please consider donating.

We take milk that has been expressed and frozen that is less than 90 days old or you can express on a regular basis and store at home. We provide bottles and get milk collected from your home.

Quite fitting on the back of our survey about the impact of social media on pregnancy and the post natal period.

We received 34 responses to our survey! We will be sharing the results at our next GMVP meeting and look forward to sharing them with you also. Thanks so much to everyone who replied.

"Let me ask ChatGPT."

Whether it’s a chatbot, AI Mode or the summary at the top of a Google search, AI is changing the way we look for information. But with studies and investigations showing AI search results can be inaccurate, it’s important to be cautious about how you use it, especially for information around pregnancy.

Our advice to anyone planning a pregnancy, or who is currently pregnant, is to avoid AI search for any questions you have – or be very careful when you do.

No matter how quick or convenient it seems, AI is simply not reliable enough to use for serious medical advice.

We'd always recommend seeking out trustworthy, evidence-based information, like the pregnancy resources and baby loss support on our website. Most importantly of all, AI should never take the place of speaking to your midwife or another healthcare professional straight away if you have serious or urgent concerns.

Sharing for our colleague Mo -

I’d really appreciate it if you could pass on the research flyer below to any pregnant women (in Aberdeenshire) you know who might be interested.

As the flyer is shared as an image, the links on it aren’t clickable, so I’ve included the full links in the post/comments below as well.

Thank you so much for your support—it really is appreciated 🌱

We are looking to gain feedback on the impact of social media during pregnancy and/or postpartum. So grab a cuppa, settle in and we would hugely appreciate your help by filling out out survey:

If you are pregnant, have been pregnant or have given birth in the last 2 years we would love to hear how you found social media use during that time. We aim to share these results with NHS Grampian staff so that together we can find ways to best support you and others through that journey.
