The Bridge of Don Brigade

The Bridge of Don Brigade Uniformed Youth Organisation for all children and young people from age 5 through to 18.

Meeting weekly on a Friday evening during school term at St Columba's Church, Braehead Way, Bridge of Don Aberdeen AB22 8RR. We are a uniformed co-ed youth organisation focused on promoting a positive disciplined outdoor life and developing each and every member of our organisation regardless of their ability to achieve all they can and to enjoy their time with us, showing improved communication s

kills, teamwork, physical fitness, new skills being achieved, self-development and confidence as a young person. Children and young people have the choice to participate in activities and have a voice in the type of activities that are led to ensure maximum engagement. We deliver Duke of Edinburgh awards, and John Muir awards and spend time in the Cairngorms National Park on frequent trips and the outdoors in the Bridge of Don area of Aberdeen. We meet weekly and in addition undertake weekend residential camps, promoting nature conservation and STEM programmes. We are an entirely self-funded charity, and our outdoor trips require specialise equipment and the use of our own minibus. We work to reduce barriers to participation such as socioeconomic status. We aim to benefit the youth within our organisation, the youth in our community and all within our local catchment area who see how important the work we do is.

Friday 12th June 2026 marked a major milestone for The Bridge of Don Brigade.

Thirty-five young people and volunteers departed from Aberdeen Airport on our very first international residential weekend, travelling to Amsterdam.

This achievement is the result of many hours of dedication, planning, and coordination by our volunteers, who worked tirelessly with airlines, venues, coach providers, and the young people themselves to make this exciting trip a reality.

A huge thank you to all our supporters and families for their continued encouragement and backing. Your support plays a vital role in helping us create opportunities and memorable experiences for our young people.

We wish everyone a fantastic weekend in Amsterdam and look forward to sharing highlights from this historic trip.

A busy few weeks and months lie ahead for The Bridge of Don Brigade!

This weekend marks the first of our two residential weekends for our children and young people.
On Friday a group of 35 P4–P6 children and volunteers are heading to Newtonmore with Active Outdoor Pursuits ( https://www.activeoutdoorpursuits.com/ ) for what promises to be a fantastic experience for everyone involved. We’re delighted that this weekend has been fully funded thanks to the incredible support of our supporters, grant funding, and fundraising efforts.

On Saturday 23rd, The Bridge of Don Brigade will be attending the Forehill School Fayre. A huge thank you to Forehill Parents’ Voice for their kind invitation. Please come along and visit our stall!

Next month, 36 P6-S6 young people and volunteers will travel to Amsterdam for an international residential weekend — a first for our organisation. This exciting opportunity has been made possible through the support of our supporters, grants, fundraising activities, and contributions from families.

Then, on 29th August @ 11am, we’ll be taking part in the Celebrate Aberdeen Parade — another exciting first for the organisation. ( https://www.celebrate-aberdeen.org/ )

None of this would be possible without our amazing volunteers, supportive families, and generous supporters. Thank you all for helping create these opportunities for our children and young people.

What a fantastic first night back after the Easter holidays! 🌟

We were absolutely thrilled to welcome over 80 children and young people to The Bridge of Don Brigade this week. The energy, the smiles, and the laughter made it such a wonderful evening for everyone involved across all three age groups.

A huge thank you to all the families for your continued support, and to our amazing volunteers who make these nights possible. It is so special to see our uniformed youth group back together, catching up with friends, and diving into new activities.

Here is to a brilliant session ahead! We cannot wait to see what the next few weeks bring. 💙
