Good to see Aberdeenshire Council's motion of council support for resettlement of Ukrainian refugees:
“Aberdeenshire Council reaffirms the commitment it made in September 2015 to actively supporting the resettlement of refugees. The Council expresses its full support and solidarity to the Ukrainian people and our peers in local and regional government and will contribute actively to a formal Ukrainian Refugee Resettlement Scheme. Moreover, if demand for resettlement exceeds existing council commitments, we resolve to increase our commitment appropriately.”

Scotland stands 🧡

The Scottish Parliament just REJECTED the anti-refugee Nationality & Borders Bill, voting 94-29 against this cruel, unworkable bill.

This comes just one week after the Welsh Parliament/ Senedd Cymru voted to do the same.

If enough of us come together, we can create a safe place for people seeking asylum in the UK - whether Boris Johnson’s government wants to or not.

Burhan Vesal had been an interpreter for the British forces in Afghanistan. When the country fell to the Taliban, he risked his life and the lives of his wife Narcis, a gynaecologist, and son Sepehr to leave Afghanistan and come to the UK.

The BBC has reported on their journey throughout. Helga Mcfarlane, a woman living in Aberdeen, saw the story and decided to offer them help.
