A new interactive kiosk teaching life-saving CPR skills in just 30 seconds has opened at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary today thanks to your generous donations 💙
Located in the hospital's main concourse, the free-to-use kiosk gives patients, visitors, staff, and members of the public the chance to quickly learn the basics of CPR using an interactive screen and in-built mannequin.
More than 3,500 people in Scotland experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest every year, and early CPR can significantly improve a person's chance of survival.
The kiosk has been introduced by NHS Grampian's resuscitation team, and funded by NHS Grampian Charity through donations from the public.
"Many people think that CPR is something only healthcare professionals or trained first-aiders can do, but that's not the case," said Louise Waldie, resuscitation officer at NHS Grampian, who is pictured in the centre with the new kiosk.
"Anyone can learn the basics of CPR, and this kiosk is designed to show just how quick and straightforward it can be."
Lisa Duthie, NHS Grampian Charity Lead, said, "CPR is one of the most important skills anyone can learn. In an emergency, those first few minutes can make all the difference, and having the confidence to act could help save someone's life."
