The Canolfan Community Youth Centre aka The Band Hut

Over the last couple of Months you may have noticed work being carried out at the Centre. This work is aimed at refurbishing the building, bring the facilities up to date thus bring the building into a usable state for the Village. A new Kitchen Unit as been donated by Kevin and Dean of local firm KAD from Aberaman, this will be installed in one of the toilet areas which as been altered by a numbe

r of Volunteers from the Job Centre in Aberdare for this purpose and re-plastered by David and Andrew Price, making the main room of the building with a larger useable area. The flooring is to be replaced once the decorating is complete. A mural is to be painted on the Gable Wall depicting the Village and the ‘Old’ Stereophonics, including the late Stuart Cable. A ‘Blue Plaque’ will also be included as a tribute to Stuart. We are hoping to complete all the work on the Centre by the end of October, after which the Centre will be open to applications for its use with any money raised going to Canolfan for the upkeep of the Building and the Village Paddling Pool.
