AMIL: Labour Market Inclusion Is Built Together!

After two years of activities, AMIL – Alliance Multi-stakeholders for Migrants Integration and Labour – comes to an end. This European project has promoted new employment inclusion opportunities for migrants in Italy, Greece and Cyprus.

🤝 A journey built on collaboration between institutions, businesses, local services and Third Sector organisations, working together to make the labour market more accessible and inclusive.

🎯 Tailored pathways, training activities and innovative tools: AMIL has put people at the centre, recognising their skills and potential while fostering new synergies among local stakeholders.

🇪🇺 Funded by the European Union’s Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF), the project brought together seven European organisations, with CIES Onlus as lead partner, to jointly develop new pathways towards inclusion.

✨ Two years of commitment, collaboration and new opportunities. Because a more inclusive labour market benefits society as a whole.

How do colonial legacies continue to shape our current reception, healthcare, and urban planning systems?

At the REMAP international conference in Brescia, speakers and participants explored the deep ties between historical power dynamics and modern integration policies. Through keynote talks and interactive workshops, the event addressed:

🔹Systemic Barriers & Institutional Racism: How bureaucratic hurdles, rigid categorization, and the asylum system often hinder real inclusion and depoliticize individuals' lived histories.
🔹The Power of Care & Decolonial Resistance: Examining how helping relationships can reproduce paternalism or "salvation" narratives, and why we must honor community agency, local resistance, and subaltern voices.
🔹Urban Space & Marginalisation: How Western urban planning can act as a tool of exclusion, and how "fugitive spaces" emerge as sites of resistance within our cities.
🔹Shifting Paradigms: Moving beyond superficial solutions, addressing white privilege and anxiety, and re-centering dignity and equality in European social work.

A powerful day of learning, unlearning, and building collective strategies to deconstruct colonial continuities.

💜 Is workplace inclusion just a commitment, or are we turning it into real change?

📢 On 25 November 2026, the Transcending Barriers: Building Inclusive Workplaces Final Conference will bring together HR professionals, employers, policymakers and project partners to explore how to create more inclusive workplaces across Europe.
After 24 months of research and collaboration, the Transcending Barriers project is reaching its final milestone. But one question remains: How can we transform the lessons learned into lasting workplace improvements?

💡 From research findings to practical experiences and innovative approaches, the conference will offer fresh perspectives on overcoming barriers faced by trans people in employment and shaping more inclusive workplace policies.

Representatives from European institutions, project partners and workplace inclusion professionals will join the discussions, sharing insights and exploring opportunities for future action.

🇪🇺 AMIL Final Conference: building sustainable partnerships for migrant labour market integration

On 6 October 2026, the partnership gathered at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in Brussels for the project’s Final Conference.

A day of exchange, dialogue and reflection bringing together partners, institutions and European stakeholders to share AMIL’s experiences and discuss how multi-stakeholder cooperation can contribute to more sustainable and inclusive pathways into the labour market for migrant people.

From local partnerships to European cooperation, the conference was also an opportunity to look beyond the project and explore how the networks, practices and tools developed through AMIL can continue to grow. 🌍🤝

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to this journey!

The project may be coming to an end, but the connections and collaborations built through AMIL continue. 💜

🌍 Building a more inclusive Vicenza, together!

🤝 On 8 October, the SINCRONY project brought participants together in Vicenza for the final session of the Vicenza Pilot!

After months of activities and exchanges, the event offered an opportunity to reflect on the work carried out since the summer, share the results achieved and explore ideas for making Vicenza a more inclusive city.

💬 The session also welcomed Giovanni Selmo, City Councillor of Vicenza, who joined the discussion on the importance of building more inclusive communities through dialogue and participation.

✨ A meaningful moment to celebrate the work done together and the value of bringing different perspectives into conversations about the future of our cities!

🌍 Faith & Resilience against Digital Hate: Join our Bridging Beliefs webinar!

📅 Save the date! On 2 December, from 10:30 to 12:00 CET, join us for an online discussion on how interfaith and interconvictional dialogue can help tackle digital hate and strengthen democratic societies.

🤝 As part of the Bridging Beliefs project, this webinar, coordinated by ALDA, will bring together representatives from different countries, faith communities and belief backgrounds to exchange experiences, perspectives and good practices.

💬 From online hate speech to misinformation, we will explore how dialogue, awareness-raising and cooperation can help build more inclusive, respectful and resilient digital spaces.

♻️ How can we strengthen the impact of circular economy policies across Europe?

On 13 October, from 16:00 to 17:30 CEST, join the K-CCRI webinar “Shared Efforts for Effective Policy Recommendations”, bringing together stakeholders to exchange ideas and contribute to stronger and more effective circular economy policies.

The webinar will explore how to increase the impact of the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI) by expanding the network of stakeholders involved, connecting existing knowledge and expertise, and building on the work already developed around circular economy implementation.

💬 A particular focus will be placed on the Policy Recommendations developed within the K-CCRI project. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss them and provide feedback, contributing to a set of concrete proposals aimed at supporting European stakeholders and policymakers in advancing the circular economy across different levels and territories.

🚀 Bringing local youth engagement to the European level!

How can local experiences contribute to shaping stronger youth policies across Europe?

On 18 September, representatives of ALDA’s Youth Empowerment and Education Hub met with key European stakeholders in Brussels to exchange on current priorities for youth participation and empowerment.

The Hub Co-Chairs, Torcato Ferreira, from the Municipality of Valongo, and Marta Sys, from the Merkury Foundation, together with ALDA, met with Marta Markowska and Charalampos Papaioannou from the European Commission’s DG EAC to discuss the EU Youth Strategy and the Strategy on Intergenerational Fairness, exploring how European priorities can connect with experiences and needs emerging at the local level.

The delegation also met with Vittoria Torrisi from the European Youth Forum, exchanging on youth participation, the European Youth Capital initiative and opportunities to strengthen cooperation between local actors and European youth networks.

🌍 Throughout the meetings, the Municipality of Valongo and the Merkury Foundation shared concrete practices and experiences from their territories, bringing the local perspective directly into the European conversation.

For ALDA, this is precisely the added value of the Youth Empowerment and Education Hub: creating connections between members, local experiences and European stakeholders, while strengthening the role of young people in democratic life.
