🦟 Today, 20 August, we mark World Mosquito Day! 🌍
-On this day in 1897, Sir Ronald Ross made the landmark discovery linking mosquitoes to the transmission of malaria-
-Until then, people mistakenly believed that the disease came from the "contaminated air" of the swamps (hence the name malaria from the Italian mala aria, meaning bad air).-

Mosquito control is much more than reducing nuisance. It is an essential part of protecting public health, communities and the environment.

At EMCA, we work to advance effective and sustainable mosquito control across Europe through:

🔬 Science & Innovation
🎓 Education & Training
🤝 European Cooperation
🌱 Environmental Responsibility
🛡️ Public Health Protection

Today, we also recognise all the professionals working every day in mosquito surveillance, research, control and prevention.

🦟 Small insects. Big impact.
💙 Together for safer and healthier communities.

🌍 EMCA at the Associations World Congress 2026

From 7 to 9 June, EMCA participated in the Associations World Congress in Faro, Portugal, bringing back new ideas and practical perspectives on Artificial Intelligence, digital transformation, governance, member engagement and the future of associations.

The experience has already led to a concrete outcome: the development of the EMCA Governance Assistant, an AI-powered pilot designed to support Board continuity and preserve organisational knowledge.

Participation in AWC 2026 also created new international connections and opportunities for future collaboration, knowledge exchange and innovation.
