Our team found a really interesting video about the town Kiltyclogher in Ireland, and their ‘Designing Kiltyclogher's Future’ Project.

Where the town created a wish list for potential development in the area, bringing together people with a range of skills and ideas they soon had a plan to improve local wealth and civic pride and these ideas ranged from utilising derelict buildings to painting local shop fronts.

Innovating Communities is a training programme to strengthen local development and community-led action across Donegal, Leitrim, Sligo, Cavan, Monaghan and Louth. This platform is the place to access training in Design Thinking and take part in a community of fellow learners.

The Design for Change project aims to empower people to utilise Design Thinking principles as a standard in creating meaningful solutions.

All partners are currently working hard, on the finishing touches of the Design for Change Training Course. Which will give adult educators the confidence to adopt and share the principles of Design Thinking to social change activist and community members.

Our team came across this TEDx talk all about Design Thinking for Development Cooperation.

The speaker, Victoria Peters, speaks on how African development is still financed by external money and aid and feels that we forget what is means to be dependent on someone, what it does to people and societies and how they eventually become a recipient of input instead of a creator of output.

She is passionate about the development of the regional branch of MakeSense in West-Africa - a global organisation mobilising citizens, private and public sector to solve social and environmental issues by accelerating grassroots entrepreneurship and social innovation. 💪

By engaging in workshops all over the ivory coast, hundreds of people were inspired to retake ownership of their situation and contribute to the emergence of citizen driven solutions for the agricultural sector. Now they have the skills and education to train others in design thinking methods to inspire a movement of engaged citizens solving the challenges of their country as well as taking their future back into their own hands.🌎
