We were very happy to have 14 residents join Sian, Mary Line and me to hear a retelling of the story of the prophet Elijah and the prophets of Baal from 1 Kings 18 and 19.

This new song, in French bien sûr, is inspired by Philippians 2:6-11, a beautiful passage from the Bible. It tells the story of Jesus — who was with God in glory, who came down to earth out of love for us, who died on the cross, and whom God then raised above everything. This is the heart of our faith: Jesus is Lord.

What really struck me as I was writing this song was discovering that this passage may already have been a song in the very first Christian church — one of the oldest in history. In other words, the first Christians were already singing these words 2000 years ago! By singing this today, we are joining their worship across the centuries.

Our final Christmas party went really well with 16 kids between the ages of 11 and 15. Sian told the Christmas story, we shared food and played a fun version of the gift exchange game.

We sang carols at Hôpital Georges-Clemenceau in Champcueil today with the Protestant Chaplaincy, of which we are a part. Jean-Paul lead the worship and we were accompanied on guitar by Hensitsoa. A special time.
