💜 NEW MONTHLY GET-TOGETHER AT CHEZ VIOLET 💜
(Moulin Poussard • St-Pardoux • 79310)

We’d love to bring people together for a relaxed monthly get-together at Chez Violet. Somewhere local to meet up, have a chat, catch up with old friends and hopefully make some new ones too.

👋 Come as you are, stay as long as you like – (I will probably be in my wellies 😂)

It was very sad to hear that the **Get Together Social Club** has come to an end after more than 30 years, due to a lack of members.

When an association closes in France, the committee must decide where any remaining funds will be donated, and we were incredibly lucky and grateful that **Association Violet** was chosen as one of three charities to benefit.

We received a wonderful donation of **€933.75**, which will go directly towards helping the families and children we support. 💜

A huge thank you to everyone involved with Get Together over the years, not only for this very generous donation, but also for the friendship and social opportunities the club provided for so long.

It is also a little reminder of just how important it is to support the associations and social groups in our local communities. If you have one near you, please consider joining in, attending an event or simply helping to spread the word. These groups can only continue if people support them.

Thankfully, there are still plenty of opportunities to get together locally. **Reaction Theatre** has reading groups starting up during the autumn, with some lovely ideas being considered, including Local History and possibly visits to museums and art galleries.

There are also several walking groups still going locally, and the **Vendée English Speaking Club** organises different activities, including bowling, meals and other social get-togethers.

Association Violet is also planning to hold monthly coffee mornings or afternoons, and we may even bring back the monthly **Ladies That Lunch** gatherings previously organised by Get Together.

These social gatherings are so important, particularly during the quieter winter months. They give us a reason to get out, meet people, have a chat and perhaps make some new friends along the way.

So please support your local groups when you can. Sometimes simply turning up can make all the difference. 💜

☀️ ARK79 Summer Fair 💜

A huge thank you to ARK79 for inviting Association Violet along to their Summer Fair and for making us feel so welcome.

Our day got off to a slightly interesting start when we unpacked our gazebo and discovered that the roof wasn’t actually in the box! 😂 Thankfully, the lovely team at ARK79 came to our rescue and lent us a gazebo for the day. Thank you – we would have been in a bit of trouble without you!

It turned out to be a great day, with lots of different stalls, plenty of visitors and, thankfully, the rain holding off right until it was time to pack everything away! ☔😂

We raised a fantastic €150, with lots of winners on our Spin the Wheel. 🎡🎉

11 people won an entry into our prize draw (5 from the same family!) for the three-night midweek break, as well as lots of instant prizes won on the day..

But days like this aren't only about raising money. We had the chance to speak to so many people about Association Violet, the children and families we support and how we help. We also made some new contacts and were given some useful ideas and places to explore, which is always really valuable to us. 💜

We'd also like to say a special thank you and congratulations to Tia on the launch of their first monthly online magazine. 🎉 We were delighted to be invited to contribute an article for the community, giving us another opportunity to spread the word about Association Violet and what we do. (And a special thank you to Donna, our new Secretary, for writing and submitting our article. 💜

And finally, thank you to everyone who stopped at our stall, had a go on the wheel, donated, asked questions or simply came over for a chat. It was lovely meeting you all.

€150 raised, 11 prize-draw entries won, lots of other prizes given away and plenty of new people introduced to Association Violet – not a bad day's work! 💜

🎉 **AUGUST Quiz Night Update** 🎉

Another brilliant quiz night, and this month we raised a fantastic **€260 for the kids ** 💜

We had 8 teams battling it out, with plenty of laughs, friendly competition and, of course, a bit of head-scratching along the way. Thank you so much to everyone who came along and helped make it another really enjoyable evening.

🥄 And then there’s the all-important wooden spoon... (beautifully crafted by engravings)
Congratulations to The Dog Rescuers, who managed to secure it this month **without Suzette’s help!** 😂 We’re not sure whether She was proud or slightly concerned that they managed perfectly able to lose without her! 🤣

A huge thank you, as always, to Mike, our Quizmaster, for keeping everyone entertained and putting us through our paces.

And as always a big thank you to and for hosting the evening, getting everyone fed and watered and providing the raffle prizes and for their continued support of Association Violet. 💜

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who came along. Whether you won, lost, went home with a raffle prize or proudly claimed the wooden spoon, every person in the room helped us raise that €260,00

Every euro raised helps us continue supporting local children with disabilities and their families, and we really couldn’t do it without you. 💜
