Behind the hardworking Association Violet team is another rather important little team - our pets! They keep us company, make us laugh and occasionally make it rather difficult to get any work done. ❤️

This photo shows Lewis and his parents, alongside some of our committee members and volunteers. 🎉 JULY Quiz Night Update 🎉

We’re delighted to share that July’s quiz night raised a fantastic €244.91 for Association Violet. 💜 A special thank you to whoever emptied the loose change from their pockets to help us reach that extra 91 cents! 😄

Despite temperatures of around 30°C, another fantastic group of quizzers joined us for an evening of laughs, friendly competition and plenty of head-scratching moments. Thank you to everyone who braved the heat! ☀️

It was especially lovely to welcome some new faces this month, including both holidaymakers and locals. We hope you enjoyed the evening and look forward to seeing you again. 😊

A huge thank you, as always, to , who once again took on the role of Quizmaster.
- With England's football match kicking off at 9pm, Mike was determined to start on time… but the quiz had other ideas! 😂

First, we discovered we were one quiz sheet short, so Julie came to the rescue and printed another set. Then the music decided it didn't want to cooperate, and somewhere along the way a few words got slightly muddled—"anagrams" briefly became "animals"! 🤣 It was one of those evenings where anything that could go wrong seemed to do so, but it only added to the fun and everyone took it in great humour.

Congratulations to this month's wooden spoon winners! 🥄🤣 This month's prize went to a special team put together for the evening, including birthday girl Sharon, who was over on holiday. Although her team took home the famous wooden spoon, Sharon had the last laugh by also winning one of the raffle prizes! 🎉 Happy Birthday, Sharon! 🥳

€2 000 + €2 000 = €4 000 of hope

It was an incredible privilege to visit Lian and his parents and present them with not just one cheque for €2 000, but two cheques for €2 000 each – a total donation of €4 000!

The second cheque came from an incredibly generous supporter who, after attending our Spring Soirée and spending time with Lian and his family, was so moved by their story that they chose to match our donation with a further €2 000.🥰

💜 Seeing the look on Lian's parents' faces as they opened each envelope, with no idea what was inside, was a moment we'll never forget. It reminded us exactly why we do what we do. 💜

Lian's Story

Lian has Lesch–Nyhan syndrome, a very rare genetic condition that leaves him completely dependent on others for his care. He is unable to sit or stand independently, is fed through a feeding tube 24 hours a day, and requires constant supervision because of involuntary self-injury and other complex medical needs. His mum gave up work to care for him full-time.

As Lian grows, he regularly needs specialist equipment that is either not funded or only partially funded. He currently needs a new adapted car seat, specialist bathroom equipment, and many other essential items that require ongoing replacement as he grows. La joie de Lian was created by family friends to raise funds throughout the year to help meet these costs. They regularly organise vide-greniers, cake sales and collect empty ink cartridges, all to help give Lian the best possible quality of life. 💜

☕ What a wonderful afternoon! 💜

Our Afternoon Teaparty kindly hosted by Donna and Keith, was a fantastic success. In fact, before we'd even finished the poster and advertised the tickets - Donna had SOLD all 30 tickets! 🤩

*Thanks to everyone's incredible generosity, €700 was raised for Association Violet*.

A huge thank you to Donna and Keith for working so hard and opening their home, and to Julie, who travelled all the way from the UK to help prepare the delicious homemade food.

It was amazing!

And a BIG thank you to everyone who came along, supported the raffle, enjoyed the afternoon and helped make the day such a success. 💜
