(English below) • Un grand merci au sculpteur Simon Fabre d’avoir été une si belle présence lors de nos deux week-ends Portes Ouvertes à RAAL.

De la première démonstration de moulage jusqu’au dévoilement final, Simon nous a offert un aperçu fascinant de son processus, à la fois direct, inventif et très physique. Avec le béton, le métal et des objets trouvés, il construit des formes qui prennent peu à peu une vie organique, étrange et singulière.

Merci Simon d’avoir partagé ton travail, ton processus et la surprise de découvrir ce qui a émergé.

A big thank you to sculptor Simon Fabre for being such a great part of our two Open Studio weekends at RAAL.

From the first cast-making demonstration to the final reveal, Simon gave us a fascinating glimpse into his hands-on, inventive process. Working with concrete, metal and found objects, he builds forms that slowly take on their own strange, organic life.

Thank you, Simon, for sharing the work, the process and the surprise of seeing what emerged.

What a show Friday night.

I wanted to thank every person individually who came, supported the artists, asked questions, shared a drink, and helped make the evening what it was, but the list is simply too long.

A special thank you to Martijn and Marijke at Les Grands Copains for their generous support, and to our chef Sean of Le Fumoir Occitan for keeping everyone so well fed.

And thank you to Clare Clifford and Murielle Jammes for being at the Lab yesterday and helping make the open studio such a lovely afternoon.

An older French gentleman was driving past the gallery and saw the signs, pulled over, parked his car and came in just to see what was happening.

He told us he had never been inside a gallery before, but something made him stop. He took his time with the work and told us that he was genuinely moved.

For me, that small moment meant everything.

I love seeing Quillan come together around its artists. This is exactly why we are building RAAL: a place where people can meet, look closely, talk, celebrate creativity, and support one another.

Looking forward to today's Demo Day, Drink & Draw, and whatever comes next.

Sunday at RAAL: an afternoon of making, seeing and trying something new.

Join us for an Open Studio Demo Day with three artists sharing their processes:

• 1:30–3:00pm Marie Calmet, collagraphy printmaking
• 2:30–4:30pm Wilfried Yun, pinhole camera
• 4:00–5:00pm Simon Fabre, sculpture
• 5:15–7:30pm Drink & Draw, with a still life or clothed figure model. Materials provided. All welcome.

Come for one event or stay for the day. Ask questions, see how the work is made, have a drink and make a drawing.

This Sunday, we’re mixing it up at Drink & Draw.

Choose what you want to draw: a new still-life setup, and/or our friend Boris as a clothed model. Come for a drink, stay to draw, and spend a relaxed couple of hours with good people making work together.

All levels welcome. Materials provided.

Come to the exhibition hungry this Friday evening.
