MISSION: RCPT-USA performs round canopy commemorative airborne demonstrations to increase awareness and educate the public about the sacrifices and heroism of Allied Paratroopers from WWII onward. RCPT-USA is based in the southeast United States, but participates in round canopy static line events across the US and internationally in partnership with European Chapters. This we humbly do to reinfor

ce the world-wide memory of their priceless deeds of valor, and the selfless sacrifices so many made to restore peace on earth. RCPT - USA conducts demonstration jumps at airshows across the US annually, and typically conducts two training and proficiency events each year (Spring and Fall) in Palatka, Florida. It's "more than just a jump"!

John Steele was an American paratrooper in the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division who became one of the most famous figures of D-Day.

During the night of June 5–6, 1944, as Allied forces launched the invasion of Normandy, Steele parachuted into the French town of Sainte-Mère-Église. The town was unexpectedly awake because a fire had broken out in the square, drawing both civilians and German soldiers into the streets. As Steele descended under enemy fire, his parachute became caught on the church steeple overlooking the square.

Unable to free himself, Steele hung suspended high above the town. To avoid attracting attention, he pretended to be dead. He watched the battle unfold below while German troops moved through the square.

German soldiers took him prisoner after cutting him down. However, Steele later escaped and rejoined his division. The town was soon captured by paratroopers of 505th’s 3rd battalion, making it one of the first French towns liberated on D-Day.

Steele’s dramatic experience became one of the most memorable stories of the Normandy invasion. A parachute effigy still hangs from the church in Sainte-Mère-Église today, commemorating the event and the airborne troops who landed there. Église Notre-Dame de l’Assomption remains a popular landmark for visitors interested in D-Day history.

Meet WWII Veteran and POW survivor, NYC native, Harold Radish. Members of RCPT USA and RCPT International were fortunate to meet Harry with great thanks to the Greatest Generation Foundation. In return gratitude, RCPT and took Harry to the sky above Normandy 82 years after he entered the war in France. He was a member of 90th Division, 357th Infantry Regiment, Cannon Company Reconnaissance who came ashore on the beaches of Normandy in August 1944. He was taken prisoner the next year when they were clearing bunkers along the Siegfried Line. Surviving 4 months in terrible conditions, he was liberated by a British unit following the German surrender. Harold is the reason and mission behind RCPT. Honoring his service and the legacy of WWII Allies brings us together each June in France and getting to spend time with Harold was a moment we will all treasure. normandy

🪂Jack and Jane Wingate. A legacy of RCPT-USA and the man who founded the chapter where we honor the heroes of 1944, on to the men and women of today.
🇺🇸 Jack turned 90 this year and wanted to take another step out the door of a flying C-47 like he has so many times before. An avid skydiver and round canopy jumper, Jack hung up his chutes 10 years ago.
🪖 A Veteran of the Vietnam War, Jack bravely served the nation he loves and made it his mission to help carry on the spirit and memory of the American Soldier. RCPT-USA is proud to honor Jack once again with this jump over Picauville, France in Normandy.
❤️ Jack made his first skydive jump in a decade on Friday and his bride, Jane, was there to meet him on the DZ.
