The main celebration of International Dance Day 2026 will take place on 29 April in Manila, Philippines, organized by the Philippine Centre of ITI as a major national initiative within the global framework of International Dance Day.

The celebration unfolds across several days, bringing together artistic exchange, community engagement, and international dialogue, with the participation of several ITI National Centres.

The core programme on 29 April is structured in three parts:
• 𝗔 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆, bringing together artists, institutions, and international representatives;
• 𝗔 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, addressing the role of culture and the performing arts in contemporary societies;
• 𝗔𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲, presenting performances by local and international artists.

Together, these elements reflect a broad and engaged approach to dance — connecting artistic expression with cultural diversity and shared global perspectives.

The ITI General Secretariat supports this initiative through international communication, global visibility, and coordination within the ITI Network, ensuring that the celebration resonates across borders and reaches a wide global audience.

The International Theatre Institute(ITI) and its International Dance Committee (IDC) are pleased to announce that 𝗖𝗿𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗶𝘁𝗲 is the Author of the International Dance Day Message 2026.

The original English version of the Message is available for 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱 in both PDF and Word formats, and translations into several languages are already accessible on the International Dance Day website.

Each year on 29 April, International Dance Day brings together dance communities around the world to celebrate dance as a universal language — a living expression of culture, identity, and shared human experience. In a time marked by rapid transformation and increasing distance between individuals, dance reminds us of the power of movement to connect, to communicate beyond words, and to foster empathy across cultures and communities.

The International Theatre Institute (ITI) and its International Dance Committee (IDC) are pleased and honored to announce that Crystal Pite (Canada), an internationally acclaimed choreographer, is the Author of the International Dance Day Message 2026.

⬛️𝗜𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗺 | 𝗞𝗶𝗺 𝗝𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗴-𝗼𝗸 (𝟭𝟵𝟯𝟮–𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲)
A leading figure in modern Korean theatre, Kim Jeong-ok was a director, educator, and cultural leader who dedicated his life to building a theatre rooted in Korean cultural identity while open to the world. As President of the International Theatre Institute (1995–2002), he strengthened ITI’s global presence and fostered international artistic dialogue. He also played a key role in developing major international platforms such as the Seoul Performing Arts Festival (SPAF), contributing to the international recognition of Korean theatre. His lifelong commitment to intercultural exchange and theatre as a shared human language leaves a lasting legacy.

The International Theatre Institute (ITI) is pleased to share the following open call issued by the Philippine Centre of ITI, as part of its national initiative for the International Dance Day 2026 celebration in Manila.
This activity is conceived and organised by the Philippine Centre of ITI, in alignment with ITI’s values of cultural dialogue, peace, and sustainable development.

The ITI General Secretariat supports the visibility of this initiative by sharing the call within the ITI network, while the artistic concept, selection process, production, and logistical coordination remain under the responsibility of the Philippine Centre of ITI.

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
In the context of the International Dance Day Celebration 2026, the Philippine Centre of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), through its cultural arm 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗘𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲 (UNESCO Artist for Peace), invites dance artists and performance groups from around the world to participate in a three-day international celebration in Manila from 28 to 30 April 2026.

Rooted in ITI’s long-standing commitment to peace, dialogue, and sustainable development, this global gathering aligns with 2026, the UN International Year of Volunteers for the SDGs, and highlights the role of dance as a powerful medium for artistic expression, cultural dialogue, and collective action in response to today’s converging global challenges — including climate change, conflict, inequality, and environmental degradation.

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺
The celebration will feature live dance-theatre performances developed through a techno-resiliArt methodology, combining movement, music, visual media, text, and digital technologies.

Artistic proposals should reflect one or more of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and engage with the interconnected themes of people, planet, peace, and prosperity through partnership.

The program encourages interdisciplinary, inclusive, intergenerational, and heritage-based approaches, valuing both indigenous wisdom related to ecological protection and contemporary creative practices.

Performing delegations are encouraged, where possible, to include an indigenous elder or bearer of environmental care and ritual traditions, reflecting ways of living in peace with people and in harmony with nature.

𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
• Performance duration: 10–30 minutes, to ensure balanced representation from all continents
• Hospitality:
Hospitality will be undertaken by the ITI Philippine Centre from 27 April (arrival) to 30 April (departure), including accommodation, meals, and local transportation for a company of up to six (6) artists.
International travel costs shall be borne by the participants.

𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲
The international dance event will include a pre-encounter ASEAN regional component (26–27 April), created by ASEAN artists, followed by interaction with international delegations during the festival program from 28 April onward.

The event will be documented for possible showcasing at the United Nations Conference COP31, to be held in Antalya, Turkey, in November 2026.

The International Dance Day 2026 celebration in Manila is organised and hosted by the Earthsavers Dreams National ITI Centre (Philippine Centre of ITI) under the auspices of the International Theatre Institute (ITI).

Синопсис – Елена Алексиева ја има моќта да пишува и да создава драмски ликови и ситуации како Јукио Мишима, Томас Бернхард, Марко Белокио, Џим Шеридан ... да режира во драмски текст, да експериментира со драмските и прозните структурите (комбинирајќи го во разни непредвидливи контрадикторни јусктапозиции), да се предизвикува себе си пишувајќи на разни теми – од профилот, мотивите, импулсите, менталитетот и причините на селскиот манијак кој силува и убива залутани промискуитетни, слободни девојки кои безусловно кокетираат, заведуваат и егзистенцијално експериментираат со младоста и животот; до претпоставената и подоживеаната женска страна на самоумислениот самурај и камиказе Јукио Мишима, фантазма која го убива асистирајќи му на својот мажествен љубовник Мишима, мадам Мишима како затвореното алтер его кое привлекува и заведува млади момчиња, Мадам Мишима која е свесна за својата слабост пред самодеструктивните последици од допирот на Венера, високо елоквентен лик заглавена во сопствената самоумислена женственост ... од радикалната оштетеност и инвалидизираност на жената без раце која почнува терапевтски да слика со својата уста, за потоа да експодира како сликарско чудо со својот сликарски просек на арт маркетот во кој се манипулира со вредностите и талентите, автентичноста и оригиналноста на сметка на дискутабилната посебност и несакана човечка трагичност.
Преводот на Здравко Стојмиров (актер-преведувач) е прецизен а богато елоквентен, витален, жив, сценичен како што може одличен актер со сенс за јазици, трансформации и превод органски да ги оживее ликовите и нивните дијалози во книжевен превод, понекогаш со многу повеќе сенс од официјалните книжевни преведувачи.
2. Две драми на Рок Вилчник (рокгре – Тарзан, Нашиот театар), превод од словенечки јазик Винсент Вилчник, Иванка Апостолова Баскар, издавач Македонски центар ИТИ/ПРОДУКЦИЈА, Скопје 2025
Преводот е поддржан од Јавната агенција за книга на Р. Словенија, печатењето на книгата е поддржано од Град Скопје.
Синопсис – Рок Вилчник е еден од најеминентните современи словенечки драмски автори кој можеби не експериментира многу со драмската структура, но затоа е извонреден во создавањето на драмски приказни, драмски ликови кои спектакуларно се расфрлаат со апсурдни, иронизирачки и духовити реплики и дијалози на сметка на тарзанските типови на мажи версус машките хиени во светот на освојувањата, експлоатирањата, поседувањата и посакувањата; или успешно да ги вивисецира сите манифестации на театарските нарциси и егоисти кои империјалистички се однесуваат со сцената, кулисите, аудиториумот, театарските работници и уметници, на сметка на приватизираните јавни и националните театри кои сеуште живеат на сметка на државата. Рок Вилчник е мајстор за критика, демистификација на локалните и глобални системски разјадувања и нагризувања или одличен, луциден и точен драмски критичар во светот на мегаломанските, финансиски, територијални и егзистенцијални бесмисли.
3. Кршливи каравани на Муанис Синановиќ (театарска поезија), превод од словенечки јазик Иванка Апостолова Баскар, издавач Македонски центар ИТИ/ПРОДУКЦИЈА, Скопје 2025
Преводот е поддржан од Јавната агенција за книга на Р. Словенија, печатењето на книгата е поддржано од Град Скопје.
Синопсис – Муанис Синановиќ е магичен поет на сегашноста, модерноста, евокациската историчност, рефлексивната поетска мудрост и реалните рутинизирани патувања и имагинативните проектирања. Неговата поезија е како сајспецифик лирична приказна, урбано хаику, шумски филм, читајќи ја неговата носталгична, суптилно сентиментална, поезија станувате дел од неговиот поетски караван и патувате спознавајќи ја кршливоста, деликатноста, краткотрајноста на сегашноста и нештата. Патувате тивко, набљудувате, приметувате, анализирате, доживувате читајќи и спознавајќи ја предвидливо-непредвидливата контрадикторност, контрастите и бесмислата на есенцијалноста; додека пејсажите и пасажите се менуваат и ве одминуваат. Извонредна, врвна поезија со универзални капацитети и вредности за трајност и релевантност!
4. Четири хрватски драми (Куќа на Филип Јурјевиќ; Далеку е Кандахар на Анита Чеко; 35 Квадрати или Недојдија на Луција Клариќ; Можеш да бидеш се’ што сакаш на Ивана Вуковиќ), превод од хрватски јазик Иванка Апостолова Баскар, издавач Македонски центар ИТИ/ПРОДУКЦИЈА, Скопје 2025
Преводот е поддржан од Министерството за култура и медуми на Р. Хрватска, печатењето на книгата е поддржано од Град Скопје.
Синопсис – Овие млади, современи, актуелни хрватски драми се продукт на една супер инспиративна и мотивирачка програма за драмско пишување, иницирана и реализирана од Хрватскиот центар на ИТИ и Гете институтот од Загреб. На темата дом, куќа, стан, кирија, потстанари, прибежиште, група на млади сценаристи и драмски автори создадоа актуелни драмски текстови зрели за сценска поставка, отварајќи ги приказните и драмите кои произлегуваат од новодобниот економски колонијализам, економските миграции и емиграции, лудото покачување на цените за сопствен дом и / или месечна кирија, за финансиската безглавост, за рапидноста на прекаријатот и подемот на бесмислените новодобни професии во кои ништо не се произведува освен ПР шпекулации, кои го демотивираат човекот да работи, создава и придонесува. За иднината на бескуќниците и загубите ... притоа не заборавајќи го и не запоставувајќи го драмскиот јазик, структури, наративни и анти-наративни текови во креативниот процес на раскажување и драмско доловување.

The Jordanian Centre of ITI is pleased to announce the call for submissions for the 5th Al-Rahhalah International Theatre Festival for Different Spaces مهرجان مسرح الرحالة الدولي للفضاءات المغايرة, organized by the Al-Rahhalah Theatre Troupe (Jordan). Founded in 1991, the troupe creates performances beyond the traditional proscenium stage, working in alternative and site-specific spaces as a core artistic approach.

The festival will take place from 𝟮𝟯–𝟮𝟳 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 in Jordan and is open to local and international theatre productions presented in non-traditional spaces such as public squares, historic houses, rooms, cafés, and similar venues. Performances are intended for adult audiences; children’s performances are not accepted.
