🌍 From volunteering experience to recognised skills.

This Saturday, the C-IVS Skills journey continues in Harare, Zimbabwe 🇿🇼, with our Partners Day bringing young people, project partners and institutional stakeholders into the same conversation.

International Voluntary Service is more than an experience. Young people develop real, transferable competences through IVS, from intercultural communication and teamwork to leadership, problem-solving and project management.

The question is: how do we make those skills visible, portable and formally recognised?

Through youth stories, institutional perspectives and participatory dialogue, the Partners Day will explore what meaningful recognition can look like across education, employment and public policy, while keeping young people at the centre of the process.

Because the skills gained through volunteering matter.
And recognition is a right. ✊🏾

🌱 IVY 2026 Member Highlight · BWA (Botswana), GEPI (Zimbabwe), SAVWA (South Africa), and CCIVS Youth Committee

From Botswana to Zimbabwe, the SAWC Caravan Workcamp continues! After 10 inspiring days of volunteering, cultural exchange, and community connection in Botswana, participants have begun the next chapter of this 40-day journey. This journey brings together participants from Botswana Workcamp Association (BWA), GEPI Zimbabwe, South Africa Volunteer Work Camp Association (SAVWA), and members of the CCIVS Youth Committee. 💚

This activity is under LIVE (Living Earth) 2026: Africa-Focused Activity, an initiative acknowledged as a contribution to Advancing a Culture of Peace in Africa within the framework of the Joint Initiative of UNESCO's Division for Priority Africa Coordination and the NGO–UNESCO Liaison Committee.

🌍 World Peace Action 2026 — from WW2 to now

Aug 15 marks 80 years since the end of World War II. Many people strongly wish never to repeat the horrors of that time. Yet people all over the world are still facing conflicts today and suffer wars, violence and even genocides.

As part of the world peace movement of International Voluntary Service (IVS), we're calling for your collective actions and contributions to promote peace and solidarity worldwide until 14 August 2026.

Here's how you can take part: 👉 Organise a talk or activity on peace in your community 👉 Post your message for peace on our Padlet 👉 Join our online event on 14 August, 11:00–13:00 UTC

In the event, NGO representatives from countries with ongoing conflicts (Myanmar, Ukraine, Congo) will discuss how volunteering is possible in conflict areas and its role in promoting peace.

We're also honoured to welcome a survivor of the Hiroshima atomic bomb, Ms Hashizume Bun, who will share her reflections.

The event is free of charge, and everyone who shares our values is welcome.

📣 Today marks , reminding us that our current systems are placing unsustainable pressure on the planet. Humanity has already used up all the resources that the Earth can regenerate in one year, and we continue to consume beyond these limits.

However, this crisis is not equal. Those who have contributed the most to environmental degradation often face the least impact, while many communities in the Global South, which have contributed the least, are on the front line.

Climate justice means challenging these inequalities and transforming the way we live, produce and consume ✊💚
