The European Law Students’ Association (ELSA) United Kingdom National Chapter

ELSA (The European Law Students' Association) is an international, independent, non-political, non-profit-making organisation run by and for students. It is comprised of students and recent graduates who are interested in academic and personal excellence in addition to their studies at their universities. ELSA offers law students a perfect platform to develop their existing skills, acquire new skills and meet fellow students and legal professionals throughout the Europe.

🔹 Recap of the 89th ICM Brno 🔹

From the 19th to the 26th of April 2026, ELSA UK attended the 89th International Council Meeting (ICM) in Brno, Czech Republic.

Our delegation actively participated in workshops and plenary sessions, representing ELSA UK’s interests before the International Board and the International Council.

This was a week filled with fruitful discussions, meaningful exchanges and a great chance to reconnect with our ELSA friends from across the Network!

Being the final ICM of this term, it was an emotional moment for many. Yet, as with every Spring ICM, one of the most anticipated moments of the week was the election of the next International Board of ELSA!

We would like to warmly congratulate the newly elected International Board for the 2026/2027 term and wish them all the very best for the year ahead.

We would also like to congratulate Michał Podlewski for his appointment as the next Internal Auditor of ELSA 2026/2027.

Together with the election of the next International Board of ELSA and the Internal Auditor of ELSA 2026/2027, the topic of the Annual Human Rights Campaign was announced!🥁

To our Network, prepare yourselves for learning a lot more about HUMAN RIGHTS IN DIGITIAL DEMOCRACY!

Thank you to the Organising Committee of ELSA Brno (ELSA Brno) and the International Board (The European Law Students’ Association) for such a well executed ICM.

A heartfelt thank you also goes to all our delegates who represented ELSA UK on the international stage.

We had a great time and are looking forward to reconnecting with everyone again at the next ICM! 🫰🏻

Are you ready to lead conversations that matter, inspire young minds, and bring the Rule of Law to life?

We are looking for enthusiastic students who are passionate about justice, education, and empowering the next generation. Through the ROLE (Rule of Law Education) Project, you will help deliver interactive sessions to secondary school students and become part of an international movement shaping future change makers.

✨ As a ROLE Facilitator, you will:
- Inspire and educate young people
- Build your leadership and communication skills
- Be part of a values-driven, international initiative
- Create real impact in classrooms and beyond

📍 How to apply:

▫️Recap of the ###IV Belfast NCM ▫️

From the 20th to the 22nd of March 2026, the ELSA UK Network gathered in Belfast, Northern Ireland for the 34th NCM; a key moment for ELSA UK’s decision-making.

On the day of the pre-NCM programme, delegates raced the National Board and the Organising Committee of ELSA Belfast, an unforgettable way to start the NCM! Huge thanks to QUB Motor Club () for collaborating with us! 🏎️

Over the following three days, delegates engaged in discussions, voted on key proposals and worked together to shape the future direction of our Association.

To everyone who put themselves forward, thank you and to the newly elected Board of ELSA United Kingdom, congratulations! 🤩

A heartfelt thank you to the Organising Committee of ELSA Belfast () for their hospitality, dedication and impeccable organisation throughout!

We are pleased to announce that ELSA UK, together with ELSA Spain, ELSA Finland and ELSA Hungary have teamed up to bring you the 2026 International Collaborative Essay Competition!

The ICEC is an academic initiative aimed at enhancing legal research and writing skills while raising awareness about pressing global issues.

This year, we are challenging law students across Europe to tackle a highly relevant and pressing topic: "The right to a healthy environment."

Whether you are an ELSA member or not, this is your chance to get your work published, win a prize and connect with peers who share your legal interests.
