The Call for Papers has been extended: June 15 is the new deadline to submit
your proposal for ICOM Exhibitions’ Momentum 2026 Annual Conference, which will take place at the Musée de la civilisation from October 4-8, 2026.

We invite you to speak up and share your experience!
We will explore the limits, challenges, and opportunities of disruptions in museums and exhibitions.
Whether you have experienced a major success, a meaningful failure, or hold a critical reflection on our current limits, we want to hear from you. Share your concrete exhibitions experiences and your visions of a future museum without compromise.

Formats available:
✔️ 45-minute roundtable: An in-depth discussion on a theme or issue. Please note that you will be paired with one or two other speakers, or you may propose a co-speaker. Your presentation should not exceed 15 minutes.

✔️ 60 or 90-minute workshop: An interactive session to experiment with new approaches, methods, or deepen reflection.

✔️ 20-minute plenary session: Bold case studies from practitioners challenging inherited narratives and reimagining what exhibitions can be, and for whom.

✔️ 10-minute lighting presentation : Share a bold idea or innovative project. Please note that these will be presented in groups of four, focusing on similar or complementary topics.

✔️ 3-minute presentation at the Traveling Exhibitions Marketplace: A short pitch on one or more traveling exhibitions. Please note we will have a maximum of 22 presenters for the Marketplace. Save your spot quickly!

ICOM Exhibitions officially invites you to submit your proposal for the Momentum 2026 Annual Conference in Québec City. We are looking for those daring enough to explore the limits of disruption in museums and exhibitions. 🌐

We are seeking proposals on:
➡️ Principle vs. Pressure: Challenging institutional politics, funding pressures, and censorship.
➡️ Frontiers of Disruption: Participatory practices, DEI, AI, and sustainability.
➡️ Disruption in Action: Risk-taking in mediation, technology, and resource management.

Whether you have experienced a major success or a meaningful failure, we want to hear your exhibition experiences.

Nous sollicitons des propositions sur les thèmes suivants :
➡️ Jusqu’où osons-nous aller? Quels sont les sujets et les approches que nous explorons et lesquelles évitons encore et pourquoi?
➡️ Éthique et valeurs VS pressions: Comment les expositions muséales parviennent-elles à remettre en question et bousculer les idées établies, malgré les perturbations liées à des forces internes (telles que les dynamiques institutionnelles, les conflits curatoriaux, les contraintes de financement, etc.) et externes (comme les guerres, l’évolution des politiques gouvernementales, les enjeux éthiques et la censure, etc.)
➡️L’audace en action: Soumettez des projets qui examinent la prise de risque et l’innovation en médiation, en gestion des ressources et/ou en technologie.

The ICOM Exhibitions 2026 Annual Conference will take place in Québec City from 4 to 8 October, 2026, in collaboration with the Musée de la civilisation. We look forward to welcoming our global exhibitions community for a week of exchange, dialogue, and connection.
