🔁 Bilateral exchange: Les Petits Frères des Pauvres x Niciodata singur - prietenii varstnicilor

Thanks to the support of the International Federation, our Romanian members were able to travel to France to meet the Petits Frères des Pauvres teams from the Fraternité Régionale of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

👉 The aim of the visit was to share best practices with a view to drawing up the Romanian association's next strategic development plan.

The Romanian delegation was able to exchange views with social development coordinators, volunteers and members of the regional council. This diversity of points of view gave them an overall view of the organization's operations and activities in France.

‼️ It's not a question of reproducing a model - each organization evolves in its own context - but rather of learning from each other, and evolving through exchanges of experience.

This kind of collaboration is at the heart of our international network. We are united by a common mission: to combat the isolation and precariousness of older people around the world.

🌏 Le paradoxe indien : un pays jeune… qui vieillit vite

Avec plus de 140 millions de personnes âgées, l’Inde fait déjà face à un tournant démographique majeur. D’ici 2050, cette tranche de population atteindra 320 millions, soit 1 Indien sur 5. Sans système de retraite universel ni accompagnement structuré, l’isolement, la précarité et la dépendance progressent rapidement.

La semaine dernière nous avons eu la chance de nous rendre dans le Tamil Nadu aux côtés de notre partenaire POPE (People’s Organization for Planning Education), engagé au quotidien pour venir en aide aux plus vulnérables, notamment les personnes âgées isolées.

Au programme :
🩺 Visite du Health Camp et échanges avec des personnes âgées
🤝 Rencontre avec France Volontaires Inde pour accompagner nos deux volontaires en service civique
💬 Temps d’échange avec des bénévoles sur les réalités du bénévolat en Inde
🌍 Participation au réseau de solidarité NEAM à Pondichéry
👥 Et bien sûr, des discussions riches avec l’équipe de POPE

🔴 DRC: a forgotten humanitarian crisis

For several decades, the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo has been ravaged by conflicts with multiple causes (see article below). Millions of people are displaced, living in extremely precarious conditions.

Among the most vulnerable, the elderly are often forgotten, isolated and destitute. In times of crisis, their access to healthcare and primary needs is severely compromised.

Pendant trois jours, les fundraisers du réseau se sont retrouvés à Paris pour échanger, apprendre et s’inspirer autour des dernières tendances en fundraising. 🌱

🌟 A New Space to Combat Loneliness Among the Elderly in Bucharest 🌟

Our Romanian member, Asociația Niciodata singur - prietenii varstnicilor, has opened a Social Lounge for older adults in the Pantelimon neighborhood of Bucharest, in partnership with Kaufland and Dr. Max Farmacie Romania.

💬 A Place for Connection and Well-Being

Open daily, this lounge welcomes older adults aged 65+ for free activities such as: creative workshops, board games, yoga adapted to their needs or themed discussions.

In addition to breaking isolation, this space encourages intergenerational connections and local volunteering.

📊 A Project to Address the Urgency of Loneliness

In Romania, 1 in 4 older adults experiences loneliness. This nine-month pilot project aims to test the impact of such a space in a community with significant needs.
