🇫🇷 Comme nous l’avions fait pour le 90e anniversaire du chapitre Rochambeau, le comité a décidé de créer un foulard célébrant le 250e anniversaire des États-Unis d’Amérique, sous la direction de Sara Sallembien, 2nde vice-régente du chapitre. Le foulard a été dessiné par une jeune artiste dans un style élégant, frais et féminin, avec pour objectif de mettre en avant neuf femmes (cinq Américaines et quatre Françaises) en lien avec la Révolution américaine et la Liberté. 300 foulards sont en cours de fabrication, dans la perspective de l'Assemblée Générale du chapitre du 27 mai prochain et du Congrès 2026 de la NSDAR. Ils seront en vente à la table France du bazar des Units Overseas.

🇺🇸 As we did to mark the 90th anniversary of the Rochambeau Chapter, the committee decided to create a scarf celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, with Sara Sallembien, the chapter’s 2nd Vice Regent, serving as project leader. It was designed by a young artist in an elegant, fresh, and feminine style, with the aim of highlighting nine women (five Americans and four Frenchwomen) associated with the American Revolution and Liberty. 300 scarves are currently being produced, in preparation for the chapter's annual meeting on May 27 and in anticipation of the 2026 NSDAR Congress. They will be available for purchase at the France table during the Units Overseas Bazaar.

🇫🇷 La plaque, approuvée par la NSDAR, sera placée et inaugurée le 19 septembre 2026 à Villers-sur-Mer en Normandie. La ville et son maire, en étroite collaboration avec notre comité, organisent à cette occasion une « Semaine américaine » pour célébrer de Anne-Louise Brillon de Jouy.
Christine de Pas, descendante de la claveciniste et auteur de sa biographie, donnera une conférence sur sa vie et son œuvre. Sa fille Mélusine de Pas donnera un concert sur sa musique.
Une exposition de textes choisis et tirés de sa correspondance touchante et pleine d’humour avec Franklin accompagnera ces événements.
Dans le cadre de la Semaine américaine, notre Archiviste Virginie de Pusy Lafayette, racontera à des collégiens l’histoire de Lafayette et des soldats du Bourbonnais.
🇺🇸 The plaque, approved by the NSDAR, will be placed on her grave in Villers-sur-Mer, Normandy, and dedicated on September 19, 2026. The town and its mayor, in close collaboration with our committee, are organizing an “American Week” of events honoring Anne-Louise Bbrillon de Jouy.
Christine de Pas, a descendant of the harpsichordist and author of her biography, will give a conference on her life and work, and her daughter Mélusine de Pas will give a concert of her music.
An exhibit of selected texts, drawn from her touching and humorous correspondance with Franklin will accompany the events.
As part of American Week, Chapter Registrar Virginie de Pusy Lafayette will share the story of Lafayette and the Bourbonnais soldiers with middle school students.

Claude Urraca, ancien journaliste, est la voix du marquis de La Fayette.
🇺🇸 The Marquis de La Fayette was the hero of two worlds as he fought for American Independence and then tried to bring changes to the absolutist monarchy of France. On this walking tour through Paris, you’ll see the city through his eyes and take in the places he knew during those volatile times.

🇫🇷 Alors qu'il occupait le poste de ministre américain en France de 1784 à 1789, Thomas Jefferson devint le conseiller des dirigeants français. Peu avant son départ en septembre 1789, Jefferson écrivit à un ami : « J'ai eu la chance extraordinaire d'assister à deux révolutions majeures en l'espace de quatorze ans ».
L’ancien doyen de la Cathédrale américaine de Paris Zachary Fleetwood a accepté de prêter son bel accent typique de la Virginie à Thomas Jefferson.
🇺🇸 While serving as American minister to France from 1784 to 1789, Thomas Jefferson became a cherished advisor to the French leaders . He wrote to a friend, shortly before he left in September 1789: “My fortune has been singular, to see in the course of fourteen years two such revolutions as were never before seen.”
The former dean of The American Cathedral in Paris, the Very Rev. Zachary Fleetwood, lends his native Virginia accent to the voice of Thomas Jefferson.

🇫🇷 Le Chapitre Rochambeau a une longue tradition de collaboration avec les Cincinnati (la société des Cincinnati de France) et les SAR (la société en France des Sons of the American Revolution). Le comité a participé à plusieurs réunions avec leurs responsables pour partager nos idées et nos calendriers. Nous nous tenons mutuellement informés à mesure que les projets prennent forme.

🇺🇸 The Rochambeau Chapter has a long tradition of collaboration with the Cincinnati (the Society of the Cincinnati in France) and the SAR (the Society in France of the Sons of the American Revolution). The committee has participated in several meetings with their leaders to share our ideas and schedules. We keep each other informed as projects take shape.
