🕊️ Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 19th International Forum of NGOs in Official Partnership with UNESCO on 19, 21-22 May 2026!

As this Forum concludes, the conversations will continue. The exchanges held in Paris reaffirmed the essential role of civil society in advancing a Culture of Peace in Africa, and the importance of continued collaboration across sectors and regions.

🕊️ The 19th International Forum of NGOs in Official Partnership with UNESCO starts today (19 May)!

Focused on “Advancing a Culture of Peace in Africa: From Roots to Resilience,” the Forum opening will feature remarks from Åsa Regnér, Deputy Director-General of UNESCO, and Svetlomira Stoyanova, Chairperson of the NGO-UNESCO Liaison Committee, with Davide Grosso, NGO-UNESCO Liaison Committee, serving as Master of Ceremony.

A high-level panel moderated by Julien Pellaux, Director of UNESCO’s Division for Partnerships, will bring together representatives of Member States, UNESCO and civil society to explore:

➡️ The evolution of peacebuilding in Africa
➡️ The role of civil society as a driver of change
➡️ Future pathways for resilience

19 May - Official Opening

On 19 May, the Forum will open with remarks from Mohamed Elfarnawany, Director of Division for Priority Africa at UNESCO, and Svetlomira Stoyanova, Chairperson NGO-UNESCO Liaison Committee, with Davide Grosso, NGO-UNESCO Liaison Committee, as the master of ceremony.

Following, with the participation of representatives of Member States, the African Union, non-governmental organizations, and youth representatives, a High-Level Panel will explore:
➡️ The evolution of peacebuilding in Africa
➡️ The role of civil society as a driver of change
➡️ Future pathways for resilience

21 May - Building Blocks of Peace: Systems, Youth & Knowledge

Day 2 will focus on the following key thematic areas:

22 May - Inclusion, Identity & Community-Based Peacebuilding

Comment la société civile peut-elle contribuer à promouvoir une culture de la paix en Afrique ?

Le 19e Forum international des ONG, qui se tiendra au Siège de l’UNESCO à Paris (19, 21 et 22 mai), offrira un espace de dialogue, de partage de connaissances et de réflexion collective réunissant les ONG et diverses parties prenantes, notamment les États membres, les Commissions nationales pour l’UNESCO, les institutions de la société civile, les communautés académiques et scientifiques, ainsi que les représentants de la jeunesse et des étudiants.
