We are grateful to our lawyers, Clémance Bectarte and Chloé Pasmantier, for their extraordinary dedication throughout the Sabri Essid trial in France, a historic moment for the Yezidi community.
This trial was not only about legal arguments. It was about survivors and their courage to come forward and to speak in pursuit of justice. As has been said many times, the road to justice is long. Survivors do not need to walk this path alone. They need protection, care, and unwavering support every step of the way.
Clémance and Chloé demonstrated remarkable commitment. They went beyond legal representation, ensuring that survivors were supported, heard, and treated with dignity throughout the entire process.
As Clémance Bectarte said:
“The testimonies of all the survivors underscore the urgent need for justice and the importance of creating a lasting record of the atrocities they endured—not only for themselves, but also for their children, their families and the entire community.”
And as Chloé Pasmantier reflected:
“For generations, children of the Yazidi community have grown up with stories of genocide. It now falls to this Court to ensure that future generations grow up with stories of justice.”
In moments like these, the role of lawyers is not only to advocate in court, but to stand beside survivors with humanity and strength. Their work reminds us that justice is not only about verdicts. It is also about restoring dignity, acknowledging truth, and honoring the voices of those who have endured unimaginable crimes.
We are proud to have them alongside us in this fight.
