🌿 YOGIC & AYURVEDIC APPROACH TO EMOTIONS THROUGH THE NAVA RASA

How do our emotions shape our inner world? Join Michèle Lefèvre Grandclément for an insightful online lecture exploring emotions through the lens of Yoga and Ayurveda.

Drawing on the concept of the Nava Rasa — the nine fundamental “flavors” of human experience — this session will examine how our perceptions, memories, and deep-seated conditioning (saṃskāra and vāsanā) influence emotional patterns.

✨ Topics include:
• The Nava Rasa and their role in emotional life.
• How conditioning and past impressions shape our reactions and experiences.
• The relationship between emotions, the mind (citta), and the kleśa, the root causes of suffering described in the Yoga Sūtras.
• Yogic and Ayurvedic perspectives for understanding and transforming emotional experience.

👩‍🏫 About the speaker
Michèle Lefèvre has been teaching yoga for more than 35 years and specializes in integrating Ayurveda into yoga practice and education. Initiated into yoga by Swami Vishnudevananda, she completed her first teacher training in India in 1991 and spent several years living and teaching within Sivananda centers across Europe.

Her studies include advanced yoga teacher training in Geneva, Natha Yoga, extensive work with classical yoga texts, and decades of Ayurvedic study with renowned teachers including David Frawley, Dr. Vasant Lad, and the Jiva Institute in India.

Michèle is the founder of Yogamrita School and has been training yoga and Ayurveda teachers for many years through courses, retreats, continuing education programs, and online teachings. She is also the author of the Yogamrita blog and a contributor to numerous yoga publications.

10/06/2026

Sylvie Schmitt discovered yoga in 1997, a discipline she practised assiduously for several years under the guidance of Gabriel PLESSIS (Asthanga Yoga – Mysore), before enrolling at the French School of Yoga (EFY Paris) in 2007 at the request of her yoga teacher Gabriel. She obtained her yoga teacher certificate after four years of training and is an affiliated member of the National Federation of Yoga Teachers (FNEY).
She discovered and has been regularly practising Toumo Yoga (Institut International du Yoga Toumo Maurice Daubard) since 2014 and qualified as a Toumo Yoga teacher in February 2020. In 2017, she trained in Sound Yoga, obtaining a certificate from the Instituts de la Voix-Patrick TORRE.

She discovered the soothing side of nature and the connection between humans and trees, and became increasingly interested in it, eventually training in sylvotherapy with Laurence Monce in 2018.

Through her experiences in both yoga and sylvotherapy, Sylvie brings these two disciplines together, which she believes are inseparable, to create Sylvoyoga or SylvoYoga, because whether we like it or not, humans are an integral part of nature!

Workshop

‘Emotion and Devotion’
The workshops will take place early in the morning.
We will go outside as lightly dressed as possible (shorts or a swimsuit for men; a two-piece swimsuit, or shorts and a sports bra for women). In Zinal, we will expose ourselves to the freshness of the pure air and to the wind descending from the glaciers and flowing down the mountain toward us.
We will practice in a seated position, using pranayama techniques to support the morning meditation. Depending on conditions, we may also immerse ourselves in the crystal-clear waters of the mountain stream, the Navizence.
We will provide the necessary recommendations throughout the week.

Our emotions move through the body long before the mind understands them. Join Isabelle Chatel for an inspiring online lecture and workshop exploring how the wisdom of yoga can help us recognize, embrace, and transform our emotional experiences.

• How the Yoga Sūtras of Patañjali explain the connection between the mind and our emotional states.
• Insights from the Upanishads on self-knowledge and the deeper nature of consciousness.
• An Ayurvedic perspective on the rasa — the emotional flavors that shape human experience.

This unique session combines theory and practice, offering a powerful path toward emotional intelligence and self-discovery.

Abhinavagupta and Kashmir Shaivism – Lies Ameeuw

Who was Abhinavagupta (950–1020 CE), and what is Kashmir Shaivism?

Abhinavagupta is considered one of the most brilliant thinkers in Indian history. He was a writer, philosopher, mystic, tantrist, yogi, poet, and also engaged deeply with drama, music, and aesthetics.

Kashmir Shaivism is a synthesis of various spiritual traditions and philosophical schools of its time. Abhinavagupta distilled its non-dual wisdom and compiled it in works such as Tantraloka, Tantrasara, and many other texts.

This lecture offers an overview of his life and work.

Lies Ameeuw founded the School of Ayurveda in 1998 (www.lies-ameeuw.com) and has grown into a pioneer in her field. Through Ayurveda she first came into contact with India, traveling there extensively. These journeys opened the door not only to Ayurveda, but also to Indian culture, art forms such as theatre and music, as well as diverse spiritual and philosophical perspectives.

Exchange session following the previous lectures and work on emotions – Yann Le Boucher

Following the four lectures by Yann Le Boucher on the theme “Emotions in Yoga” according to Swâmi Prajnânpad’s Adhyâtma Yoga, a fifth Q&A session will take place. This session will be shorter (up to 1.5 hours, or less if questions are completed earlier).

Participation is reserved for those who attended the online sessions or who have watched the replays on the EUY - European Union of Yoga YouTube channel. During the fourth session, participants were invited to keep a “journal of refusals,” which may be used to enrich the discussion.

Please take these conditions into account before registering. The session will be live only and will not be available as a replay. It is therefore not necessary to register if you are not available on the evening of 11 June 2026.

To make the exchange more meaningful, participants are invited to send their questions in advance to Yann Le Boucher: https://www.labertais.org/infos-pratiques/contacts-avec-lassociation/

He will begin by answering the submitted written questions, after which participants will be able to interact more informally.

Please note: questions must relate directly to the content of the four lectures. Individual personal guidance will not be addressed, as it falls outside the scope of this online format.

Yann Le Boucher holds a PhD in Indian studies and is a former lecturer at the University of Rennes 2. He trained in hatha yoga with Dhirendra Brahmachari and later with K. Pattabhi Jois. He studied Vedanta with Shri D. Kulkarni and Arnaud Desjardins. He currently leads the Centre des Amis de La Bertais in Brittany, dedicated to Adhyâtma Yoga.

05/06/2026

Yaira Yonne-KonishiI has been immersing herself in (Western) music for 40 years, in yoga for 20 years, and in the path of the voice since her 60th birthday.
The publication of Joachim Ernst Behrendt’s fascinating book ‘Nada Brahma. Die Welt ist Klang’ (Nada Brahma. The World is Sound) at the end of her school days resonated strongly with her. However, it took another quarter of a century before she was able to experience her ‘coming hOMe’ in 2010 with Amy Weintraub during a whole week of yoga combined with vocal sound.
Since then, she has been on the path of sound and has combined and developed her two ‘vocations’ – music and yoga – into YOGA-VOX.
She lives with her Japanese wife in their adopted home of Bern, Switzerland.

Workshop

‘Emotion and Devotion’
The voice reflects mood, personality and mental state. In YOGAVOX practice, it is consciously used as a tool to promote inner balance, calm and self-healing through sound and mantra. Mantra acts as a vibration of consciousness and connects body and mind through resonance. Sanskrit sounds are considered an expression of subtle energies. The voice and the heart are closely connected and enable deep self-awareness. In the ‘Emotion and Devotion’ workshop, sounds, breath and movement serve to harmonise body, mind and emotion. The goal is not performance, but the experience of harmony, joy and spiritual connection.
In my sound practice ‘YOGAVOX’, I am concerned with devotion to life itself, to nature, to the ‘big picture’. In the yoga tradition, this is called Shakti-Bhakti.
